Some times people need some time to calm down, before they do things they regret.

Locking a thread is a way that I can provide such a breather.

Yes I could, but I see deletings as more severe. As a mod I have a couple of tools. Locking a thread is less severe than deleting posts. But reading the post that came after mine, maybe you are right and that it is time that I start to use the big eraser.

The idea of locking a specific thread is STUPID! because it makes the forum unclean. Is there any function to remove the locked thread from the page, permanently?

And banning the peopel to talk freely is also another idiotic idea. We are not the people under an authoritarian government like North Korea, dang it!

Yes I can reopen threads. But with the kind of tempers people are running at the moment, it is far more likely that I will be closing threads in the immediate future, than it is that I will be re-opening them.
