GP4 crashes - any particular reason?

I remember the day I bought GP4, the game was just released and I was on summer holidays on Europe.

I first played it in a Compaq Presario laptop with Windows XP that I took with me for the trip.

I had to ran the game in low settings to get 30 fps, which was the standard at the time, and I loved it.

The pit crew animations added a level or realism that was unseen in a racing game.

At some point, I learned a trick to improve performance that involved changing a sound settings in XP.

Anyway, with all those hardware limitations and performance issues of those early days, I can't really remember vanilla GP4 crashing that often.

I think the crashes started for me in later versions of Windows, maybe in 7, 8 or 10, I am not sure.

And for some reason, I have the impression that they are less frequent when the game launches from ZaZ tools / CSM, but I may be wrong.

Is there a particular, or at least, a most common reason for GP4 crashing? What is your experience with GP4 crashes?

Hello! So, there can be hundreds of reasons why GP4 crashes ...
I advise you, if you have not already done so, to take a look here: [www.grandprixgames.org]

However for me GP4 has always worked without particular problems on all versions of Windows, currently I have Windows 11 ...
So I think your problem is easily solved! :-)

There is always a reason why the game crashes)
Try using a GPxPatch and setting Compatibility - Use CPU to 0, also keep in mind that on modern version it is better to set these parameters (on GPxPatch obviously, but better on GP4.exe as well if you feel the need to play vanilla game):

Sorry for the russian letters - but basically these means compatibility of application set to Win XP and admin rights by default on app as well.

If these were not useful, come back but better with the crashlogs for the more experienced people to check them,
Cheers
