GPGSL Rd 1 Australian GP – Tester’s Feature RaceHello and welcome to Melbourne, the venue for Rd 1 of the GPGSL championship. Up next is the feature race for the test drivers, where hopefully we get to see how the pace of each team is looking ahead of the race for the race drivers. It’s time to head trackside as we prepare for the start.
Weather ReportHere we go. The cars are all lined up awaiting the start. O’Brien is on pole, with returning driver Houston alongside him. Once the 5 lights go out it’ll be on.
Away we go!
Russell is off on the grass.
The replay shows that Keranen was making a move, but was unable to avoid making slight contact leaving the Christel out wide and off the track.
He manages to make it back ontrack and is able to continue on.
It’s a comfortable lead for O’Brien for the time being.
Michail is all over the back of the MMM.
Savio looks to be under a lot of pressure from the cars behind him.
O’Brien takes the fastest lap, but unlike the race drivers it has no effect in regards to the testers championship.
Karda attempts to make a move through turn 1, but is unsuccessful and allows the cars behind to close in.
Unseen by the cameras Michail has managed to get ahead of Szucs.
It looks like Hollidge lost at least two positions.
McGregor sits just one position shy of the points, with both Soutsen and Sheppard behind chasing him down.
Soutsen goes for a move, but is unable to get ahead of the MAC.
We have a few group battles taking place.
Stoddart has dropped back a few positions and now has to defend from Copeman.
There’s been contact made between the Alpha and MAC.
Keranen won’t be too impressed with what just happened.
McGregor once again is defending from Soutsen. We also get to check out how the top 10 has moved since the race start.
Keranen was able to rejoin the track, but is now under attack once again.
There’s contact made between McGregor and Soutsen.
Both drivers run off the track, though Soutsen is able to quickly rejoin without losing too many positions. McGregor however ends up rejoining behind the Mistral.
That’s way too close for comfort between Cronin and Ingers. No doubt there was contact between the two.
Indeed there was. Cronin spins out, and Ingers is sent off the track.
Cronin won’t be too happy with himself.
Out front O’Brien still leads, though it looks like Michail is slowing closing in on him.
Let’s take a look at the current standings.
Both Greenhalgh and Cremasco are off in the grass.
Replay shows that Greenhalgh had made a move on Cremasco, but hadn’t gotten far enough up to clear him without making contact. That results in contact being made, sending Cremasco slightly airborne, and Greenhalgh spinning out on the grass.
Somehow Cremasco is able to rejoin with only one position lost.
Greenhalgh however is not so lucky.
The cameras manage to get a great view of the new look Demon as Sheppard heads through the first few corners.
Beggani is doing well so far sitting inside the top 5.
Warrington goes for a move on the Mistral.
He manages to get ahead, but not without leaving enough space. Beggani ends up on the grass, and loses a few more positions as he recovers.
Houston has Szucs in his sights.
The MMM is off in the sand.
Suspension Failure brings the race to an end for the MMM driver.
We have Tyrant vs AMR at the front of the field, and Tyrant vs AMR near the rear of the field.
Stoddart sits in 6th, though he will need to keep a watch out for Beggani behind him.
Soutsen locks up and runs out wide.
This is the closest Michail has gotten to the back of O’Brien.
She tries for a move into turn 1 but is unsuccessful in getting ahead.
Michail is the first driver in for their stop.
There’s been a big incident in the background involving one of the MTPs.
The replay shows that it was due to contact between Savio and Karda that led to the MTP going on it’s roof.
The car rolls back over without any signs of damage being inflicted.
Russell is seen exiting the pits after taking his stop.
Michail and Cremasco have both gone off.
Hollidge goes off as well.
As the replay shows there was contact made from behind which led to the Tyrant running off the road.
Time for us to break a short break. We’ll be going to the end when we return.
