Bit of a problem with a few new tracks

I decided to make a customised 2008 track calendar using older tracks (Buenos Aries, Paul Ricard, etc), newer tracks (Shanghai, Sepang, etc) and non F1-tracks (Laguna Seca, Dubai, Surfers Paradise). Problem is the latter two seem to experience what you might call a "major graphical malfunction" where half the trackside content appears missing and some weird glowing, shiny reflections appear on the car. I'd show a screenshot if I could but any time I try to take one it just comes out as black. This doesn't happen with the older tracks so I'm wondering what's causing it on these newer ones, and how to fix it.

Any thoughts?

Edit: Might as well add this question in as well; anyone know of a way to make cars who spin into the gravel retire? This used to happen in GP3 and I kinda miss it in GP4!
