+1 :-)

For some reason I thought GPxPatch 4.30a was going to have a
box or drop down menu that allowed some tire options
But To tell the truth I cannot see any differences between 4.30a & 4.24a

I guess they are internal changes

But what is really odd is I was able to get the tires working in CMS mod 2014
by using the regular files included ( non gpx beta files)
Yet now all I can achieve is white tires :-) Although I have proper rims :-)

I know it is something I am doing wrong & will try more or wait till others get it sorted further
Also Toms 2014 CSM mod has a different file structure for tire compounds too.

Yeah this is really baffling. I thought that version 4.30a would allow you to select the specific tires you want.
Well anyways good luck in your endeavour Flying, in trying to solve this problem.

Yes, they are internal changes. All the settings are read from the performance file. It's up to the rest of the community to add a GUI for it. I think best would be an editor that also updates cars.wad. Until then, you'll have to edit it with a text editor, or rely on modders to create one for you.

As for CSM mods, I haven't tested it with CSM and I don't know what CSM does exactly regarding these textures.

It does, just not using a GUI. I think you expect too much from free software. If you're lucky Team Editor will be updated, but Lo2k is not obliged to do anything.

Sorry, you are right I am expecting too much. Do you know were I can find a performance file?

You can create a performance file with TeamEditor. Then you can add the new sections for tyre textures by hand, as described in the GPxSet documentation. But don't edit the file with TeamEditor after that, because you will lose your changes. Lo2k is working on a version of TeamEditor that at least keeps all the new settings intact.

Thanks Rene & also I did not mean to sound like I do not appreciate your contributions or
how excellent they already are.

As I said I know it is something I am doing wrong in my performance file & file structure in CSM
which till this year I had not used myself...... but will get it right eventually

Editing the performance file by hand in a text editor is very easy & I always just make a copy of the original to revert to
if things go wrong. I think part of my problems is both file structure in CSM & also it seems to read more than just the performance file.
I think also relates to the GlobalVars.ini file

But will figure it out eventually ;-)

Thanks again for all you do I really appreciate your work (Y)

Now I seem to be getting white tires, like flying does, but I am not using the CSM mod. I must be writing the performance log wrong.

[Tyres]
Name #00=supersoft
Name #01=soft
Name #02=medium
Name #03=hard
Name #04=mclaren
Name #05=bridgestone
Name #06=michelin

[TreadTextures]
Team #00=01,02
Team #01=00,02
Team #02=01,02

Any help would be appreciated.

Get rid of the zero's at [TreadTextures]:

[TreadTextures]
Team #00=1,2
Team #01=0,2
Team #02=1,2

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?

As TL said get rid of zeros

I have actually been getting some results in CSM but not quite right yet
I seem to be limited & also the tire folder structure in this CSM mod is a bit different

But I can get some things just not all things :-)

Now I get the tire treads on the sidewalls? All well I really appreciate the help though. Maybe I will try it with CSM.
Thank-you Turbo Lover and Flying for all of your input.

Don't use [Tyres] for the texture names. Use [TyreTextureNames].

I tried it with TyreTextureNames, the tyre textures do not seem to fit the tyre shapes. I'll keep tinkering with it.
Thank-you for your help, it is much appreciated.

Have you used textures that need a custom wheel shape?

Sorry guys, I haven't follow the conversation since a long time ago.

I don't know how CSM mod 2014 is built as I don't use it nor how GpxPatch fits with CSM.

I just can help with the shape and textures.

All that I can say is that in order to use my textures and rims, you have to use also the tyre shapes inside the archive because it is mapped a bit differently, especially for Mercedes blue stripe.

If you have got any questions about this, I will try to help...

No I have not used textures that needed a custom shape. I just placed all the Pirelli files in the correct places.
The game just had the original shapes and textures. The new textures are mapped differently from the originals.
The tread is included with the sidewall. With the original the treads and sidewalls are seperate images.
Anyways I really appreciate the help. And thank-you for creating the patch.

Yes as you have found it does not work with the 2014 CSM perf file if you use TireTextureNames

About the best I have gotten is load all the files...I made a new Tyres folder & mimicked the existing Tyres Folder
before renaming it to Tyres.org so I can switch back

Then for the perf file adding this works about the best albeit still not right & I did not bother putting a tire for each car per team but works ok
Also see in this pic the center spindle on wheel? Seems to have something extra?
I am kind of giving up on it till I hear something from Tom in the other thread
Since it is his CSM mod it may have a different instruction being sent? Not sure.

Also as you can see although I call for the McLaren wheel I do not get it on the Merc or McLaren
Teams 01 & 04 in the perf file, I get the Bridgestone instead

But again this is the CSM & it is different.
But I have also had no luck with the stand alone 2014 Laptop edition by rebuilding the Cars.Wad

No problem though & will keep playing with that one a bit more.
