Yeah Ruben, found out the original files, work made by Ulf, Filou16 and yourself! The original work is the 1988 High Res Tyres released on 30 January 2013. I've updated now basically the 3D rims, making the specific wheels from each team.

This updated mod is simply amazing!
Turbo engine sound is spot on. Original mod had Honda 1989 v10 type of onboard sound,
which is very good for 1989 mod if it will be released someday.

Thank you again for this work you have done.

I updated the link below, but unfortunately I can only set it up for 7 days.
If anyone knows a platform where I can upload it for longer time or even permanently, I would appreciate it.
Hope this helps, at least for know.
Like I mentioned, this is my own 1988 mod, that I updated and configured over time, using the basic updates in the first post.

I am working on an update to the updated 1988 HD MOD by gigi88. I would like to improve the performance files as the lap time of these 88 cars are 20 seconds slower than the 2021 and I think this is too much, those cars were already fast cars. I'm not happy especially with the slow corners. I've watched a video posted by gigi88 and seems the cars have better handling and speed.
Where can I find better performance files or am doing something wrong?

No problem. I am happy that some people like it, even after all these years.
I updated the mode folder as well the tracks over the years. It is just a personal one, that I configured to my liking, based on the original one by Tony.

Of course needs some work, but if anyone can tribute to a more accurate actualization, that please be happy to and upload the new version.

Yes, this have been an issue from day one. Unfortunately I am not a specialist in upgrading these files. I only used the performance that just came with the original 1988 track pack. This was fine for me over the years, but as you mentioned, the times on some tracks, are way behind the reality.
I tried to use this physics once, but not help. The handling that you seen on my video, is pretty much thanks to a great setup. I like to drive the McLaren with a little over-steer, but this is just my style.
If you can update the performance & make it more accurate , would be great.

What I wish and as a very long GP4 player missing, is a real 1989 mod. This 1988 mod by Tony has the 1989 embedded, but nobody managed to update is with the real cars of 1989. You can play the 1989 mod, but with the same cars. I tried to do it myself, but it is way to complicated. The real guys, that know how to build a CSM mod, files etc. are mend to do this.
Let`s keep in touch and I appreciate you attribution in advance.

Nice work mate. I'd like to point out that the cockpit livery of the Ligier is inverted (LOTO, not OTOL and JUDD not aant) :

I’ve noticed and changed the LOTO. For the engine, the object has to be remapping because on the other side it’s correct

Hi, sorry for “necroposting”, but I have some problems with the 1988 mod.

It has been more than a decade since I last played GP4 and, for a short story, I don’t like the modern games and modern F1. I wanted something simple. So I am trying to get back to the basics. Nothing is better than GP4 and its mods. Just pure racing, right?

I have three problems with the 1988 mod from GP4 Database website, which apparently is down now. I hope someone can help me to fix them, So I can turn my attention to the other 90s mods before starting the fun part - racing:

1) I can’t find where and how to disable the visors;
2) The pitboard and its infos are misaligned.
3) The driver arms, panel and steering wheel are misaligned too.

2) and 3) I think it’s related to the screen resolution. I run the game from a 13” laptop, with a resolution of 1680x1050 when I am on the road. When I’m at home, I work plugged to an external monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080.

Anyone know how can I fix these problems? Thanks in advance and happy racing.

Dear Forum members and 1988 mod fans

I searched the forum regarding this issues of mine, but didn´t seem to find any suitable information on this matter. So I thought I write here, instead of opening a new post.

I am a frequent player of the GP4 1988mod. I play the original one from Tony (used to be available on GP4db site), as well the updated ones that have been recently released on this forum.

My big problem, is that I don´t seem to find suitable car setups (Base is the original 1988 trackpack from here) for my car, good enough to keep up with the AI in ACE mode.

A struggle setting up for tracks like Hockenheim, Monza, Spa and Adelaide specially. As much as I try, even using the Setup Guide pdf “SETUP GUIDE FOR GTR2, setup your car in 21 steps”, I can´t set up my cars good enough to keep up with the AI on ACE level.

Is it possible, that you can share some of your car setups for this mod?

In return I could share some of my existing ones, that are good enough (Ex. For Silverstone, Jerez, Hungary and Detroit).

Your help would be highly appreciate it.
