GPG Nations Cup Rd 7 San Marino GP - Race Day

Part 3

Welcome back.

Aspenstrom and Hatfield continue their battle.

All McGregor can do is try his best to hang onto the back of the battle ahead of him.

Dixon is doing his best, but he may need to start looking in his mirrors soon as Girard continues chasing him down.

Considering some of the performances from Keranen in recent rounds, being down the order is not what he would be wanting.

Silvestre has managed to close the gap to Tung.

It’s been a rough season for the reigning champion so far, but at least Kederer is back in familiar territory.

Aspenstrom and Hatfield are still in the middle of battle.

Try as he might, this is the closest Hatfield can get to the back of the Sweden car.

Let’s check out the standings.

Hatfield must surely be getting frustrated being stuck behind Aspenstrom.

Nikolov currently holds the final points position.

Did Monaco ever mention why their livery bears resemblance to the McLaren livery from 20yrs ago?

The race just hasn’t been going to plan for Cremasco.

It’s getting pretty close between Tung and Silvestre. Meanwhile, Ihara is starting to close in on them.

Briere is Mr Untouchable at the current moment.

De Boer will be happy knowing that he currently sits inside the points.

After what seemed like an eternity, Hatfield has finally managed to get by Aspenstrom.

That now leaves the Swedish driver in the clutches of McGregor.

Anyone need a train?

It’s still on between Tung and Silvestre.

Ihara has managed to close in even closer. A few more laps, and it’ll soon be a 3way battle.

On second thought, maybe not.

This is what it looks like from Ihara’s point of view.

Domenech is doing his best to keep in touch with Paddock.

Tung is handling the pressure quite well.

Silvestre looks to be close enough to try for a pass on Tung.

It didn’t work out for Silvestre, who now has to defend from Ihara.

The second round of stops is now underway as Paddock is the first one in.

He rejoins in 5th.

A few more drivers are in.

Paddock has closed in on De Boer.

Hatfield and Tafuro both rejoin after taking their stops.

Silva and Kuei also rejoin after taking their stops.

Briere pits from the lead.

He rejoins in 2nd.

Paddock is really giving the pressure to De Boer.

Aspenstrom and McGregor are in for their stops.

Also in for their stops is Dixon and Girard.

Silvestre is still chasing down Tung.

Domenech, Kederer and De Boer are all in.

Domenech rejoins in 3rd behind Paddock.

Kederer rejoins in 4th.

De Boer rejoins, just as Hatfield goes by.

McGregor has managed to get by Aspenstrom.

Nikolov and Keranen rejoin after taking their stops.

More pitlane action.

All drivers have now completed their second stop, so let’s check out the current standings.

Time for another break. When we return, we’ll be going to the end of the race.

Nice, got into the points with a smooth pitstop :)

Noooooooo... Not 11th place!

fueled lighter, but hardly enough laps to get anywhere. we'll be looking at our strategy after this, this is not good in the slightest
No boost this weekend, not overly surprised by the performance (or lack of) so far by Mr Girard....

Part 4

Welcome back for the final time.

Cremasco may soon be in danger of going a lap down as Briere looks to be closing in on him.

With Briere way out in front, these are the only positions that are still up for grabs between Paddock and Domenech.

The other battle for positions taking place is between Hatfield and De Boer.

The battle between Tung and Silvestre is still ongoing.

As we focus in on Kederer, the timing shows the top 10 and how they have moved since the start.

While we are at it, let’s also check out the current standings.

Here is Aspenstrom, who is looking quite focused as he aims to hold down 8th.

It appears that Ihara is next on the list to go down a lap if Briere is able to get by.

Tafuro is still inside the points, which will be good news for the Italian.

We are now on the final lap.

Briere has simply been outstanding all day. He took the lead at the start, kept it through the pitstops, and never once looked back. He enters the final corner for the last time.

And crosses the line to win the San Marino GP.

Paddock crosses the line in 2nd.

And Domenech takes the final podium position with 3rd position.

Congratulations Mathieu Briere and Team Canada, our winner of the San Marino GP. They were truly dominate here today, and have most likely left their mark on the series standings. Anyways, we hope you enjoyed this special Christmas edition race. As you may already know, it only happens once a year. We hope to see you back here next round when the GPG Nations Cup returns for Rd 8. So until then, its goodbye from Imola.

Can't be happier :) That's what you get when you put a Canadian on a cold, snowy track. We're used to driving in those conditions lol ;)
Well I'm a very happy man!

... well we're back to the drawing board. that is simply unacceptable
Not where we wanted to be, but with no boost we can't get higher.

Ihara's mistake cost points. On to the next one I guess...& we'll take positives from the early performance
