GPG Nations Cup Rd 7 San Marino GP - Race Day
Part 2
Welcome back.
More cars enter the pits for their stops.
We find Kederer in 5th.
McGregor is now in 17th having rejoined the track after taking his stop.
Paddock is now in for his stop.
Cremasco is also in, as well as Girard.
Team France has managed to get their man out ahead of Cremasco.
Kederer is in.
Aspenstrom is in as well.
Dixon enters the pits for his stop.
More cars are now in.
Briere is in from the lead.
The pitlane is very busy now.
Keranen is chasing down Cremasco.
Domenech and Ihara are the last drivers in for their stops.
That allows Briere to retake the lead.
Domenech now finds himself behind Paddock after rejoining the track.
Ihara is now up to 7th.
It looks like McGregor’s pitstop didn’t go to plan, as he is now further down the order from when he took his stop.
Paddock is now up to 2nd. That must mean something has happen to Viljoen.
What a heartbreaking scene for the team to see. Viljoen was running in 2nd, and now he has to retire from the race with an engine failure.
He does the right thing and pulls off to the side of the track. Meanwhile, we have a yellow flag situation.
This is why the yellows are out. Silvestre has once again gone off into the sand.
Silvestre manages to rejoin, and once again sits in last position.
Here is the confirmation of Viljoen’s retirement.
With all the drivers having completed their first stops, let’s check out the current standings.
Aspenstrom must surely be feeling the pressure being applied by Hatfield.
Hatfield goes to the outside, but is unable to get by.
With Aspenstrom holding Hatfield up, that is allowing the cars behind to close in.
This battle continues on.
McGregor has closed in on Hatfield. That must mean the UAE driver tried to get by Aspenstrom, but wasn’t able to make it and lost a bit of time.
Hatfield was able to break away from McGregor, which now leaves the Australian in Tafuro’s line of sight.
Hatfield tries again to get by Aspenstrom.
And again is unable to get past.
The battle for 11th is currently between Frutiger-Fussli and Silva.
Unseen by the cameras, it seems that both Cremasco and Ihara have both had minor incidents which have cost them positions.
As we head into lap 19, let’s check out the current standings.
