Sorry guys i fixed my Gp4.

I check the uploaded laps.

@CrisJ you unchecked "Car team power dependant" from gpxpatch. That gave you an advantage of 30bhp extra.
The rest of your gp4 settings are 100% correct.

Indeed, thanks for checking! I originally thought it's logical to be unchecked. I unchecked it without really being conscious about it but it is to be pointed out that everyone is now taking a disadvantage in not driving Mercedes or Ferrari. We should fix that for the performance file so that there's equal power levels no matter what car you choose.

This crossed my mind too, I was originally going to drive in a Caterham just because I like the team but the power loss is 30bhp so its not worth doing at all.
You could change the individual driver performance to reflect the power difference if leveling it out makes the mod too inaccurate?

Chris, its natural for us that to be unchecked. Its the old way like we raced in different Gp4 leagues.
Damn so good memories from then, the adrenalin doing the races and hotlaps. (Y)

I want to keep the performance file as it is, i.e. realistic 2013 levels. If you want to drive the faster cars that's fine, but if you pull out a good result in the Caterham / Marussia it'll be even more of an achievement :)

Speaking of the performance file, remember you are allowed to choose your own number, as well as write your own name, in the performance file. Grip / power values may not be changed though.

Absolutely, that's where the habit comes from!

Nothing beats the thrill of time-limites qualifying sessions back then. ;)
Just a pity my beloved MOMO Force Wheel finally broke down after an incredible 12 years in duty. Despite some minor fixes from time to time it practically never ever caused trouble.

best regards
chris

Yeahh TL in GPC, F1VWC and LFRS in class A. Those were great moments.
I miss those days when their were plenty of drivers willing to race.

From 2005 - end of 2007 i raced with a logitech Formula Feedback(red steering wheel)

Then in April 2008 i got a Momo, fine wheel but still with the pots problems not deliverying 100%
acceleration. I retired the wheel at the end of 2011.

In May 2012 i bought a Logitech G27. Great wheel but very tricky to drive for Gp4 espcially if you dont
have any experience driving other wheels because this is a certain nighmare for some.
I adapted to it but i had to learn again practically how to drive, its much different than the Momo.

Kind regards
Jorge.

10 entries so far - not bad guys! I'm not sure how Eric managed to get past the controller type validation though - Eric what controller did you use? Did you check any of the boxes?

Also, Chris / Jorge - How did these time-limited qualifying sessions work that you mention?

You need an automatic code generator for 3 caracters. These are shown to the driver only.
He has to put this infront or in the back of his name in the performance file and save it.

Ofcourse you also need a chronometer to time the driver for putting the mentioned code in
the performance file, do the hotlap and upload the file and type the code to the website.

Usually the time for doing what i described above was 5 to 7 minutes in the best leagues, in some other websites
this was more easy on the drivers allowing 10 to 15minutes.

OK, that sounds like a cool idea!

I have decided to open Round 2 of Pre Season testing today - so head to GP4 Central and get started!!

Yeah, in the same post in GP4 Central: "If you don't want to use BitTorrent to download this mod click here for a direct download"

Yes but their other things we did for races.
In a website that was called F1vwc it actually simulated the actual qualifying sistem Q1, Q2 and Q3.
We used what i described above about TL for hotlaps and applied it for for qualifying giving
20 minutes of TL time in each of the qualifying for the drivers that got to the next round.
Ofcourse this took 3 days, one for each round of the qualifying.
The races where normal TL plus extra time. For example if you knew that drivers will do their
races between 40 - 41 minutes then their were given extra time to finish, something like 10 to 12 minutes
longer for the TL time.

Conclusion
TL is nice and gives a more real sensation for a driver when doing his actual qualifying or race.
But im sure CrisJ will agree that is takes a lot of time for practice just to warm up(drive in gp4), feel confident
and then do the actual hotlap and race. Its not easy especially for a rookie in this area.
Im my opinion all us are not ready, i include myself because i havent practiced this in years.

Hope i havent bored anyone.
But i think its nice to tell these stories, who knows we might one day
have a league like that and have 22 drivers.

:) I certainly hope we can attract that many players. To do that we will need to make the competition as "accessible" as possible, so you are right, we cannot get too complex just yet. Hotlaps and quickraces will do nicely for our first full season.

Speaking of our first full season, the calendar has now been published!! 6 events, a mixture of hotlap and quickrace events, starting (just like the first ever F1 season did) at Silverstone. Except, instead of "Silverstone 1950", we are starting at "Silverstone 2013 by jcaranti and drt01". Without doubt my favourite GP4 track in years.

And we will end the season at Adelaide, a very traditional season closer. And it will be a double points event!!! (kidding, that's a horrible idea).

Jorge and his Ferrari lead the way after Pre-Season Testing 1 which has now finished. Well done Jorge :).

No points will be awarded for pre-season testing so that's why the championship order is mixed up on the main page. It will be sorted by points totals when the season starts.

I despise Imola. Tentative lap put in but I'll probably be last here...>>;

These testing sessions really are proving invaluable for me, I am finding bugs and making fixes all over the place as you guys submit your entries. Keep it up!

It's a steering wheel. I've probably only checked the custom box in the controlers. I will look at it.
I don't know how my lap gets past the validation too because my laps.log isn't related to the replay I sent. I wasn't aware I had to save my laps.log at the same time than the video.
I will have an other attempt if it's still possible.

Eric, you have until the 24th of March. Plenty of time.

I just submited my hotlap. I cant drive anymore untill the next event
because i want to have time for me to release more 2013 track updates. (Y)

Kind regards
Jorge.
