Getting started on the drink early, are you? ;)

Merry Christmas everyone :)

Pretty solid start for TSM - I'm happy with that! Good job guys

Letting everyone know that the tester's feature has been run, and won. I have finished putting the coverage together, so hopefully I'll get it uploaded by later this afternoon.

Ok. Trying to run a test run on the full qualifying, and no matter what I do it still has 22 cars out with 12 laps. What do I change to get it set up correctly for this seasons qualifying format?

Merry Xmas everyone!

Just to let everyone know
I'll be away until the New Year, hope everyone has a great holiday season!!
GPGSL Rd 1 Australian GP – Season Opener –Tester’s Feature Race

Part 1

Welcome back to Albert Park, as we get set for the start of the feature race for the testers. In qualifying, we saw a brilliant lap from Schieder that secured pole position for the rookie. Next to him on the front row will be Monil Santilal, while behind them is Dan Mills and Emanuel Domenech, another rookie looking to impress in only his first race weekend. The weather is clear and sunny, so there is no threat of rain to bother the drivers. The cars have now returned from the formation lap, the race director is ready to go, so let’s get this race underway.

Here we go. Just waiting for the lights to go out, and then it starts.

And the race begins! Schieder goes side by side with Santilal, while behind them the pack all jostle for position.

Santilal manages to take the race lead, as Schieder loses 2nd to Domenech.

Both SCR drivers made bad starts, and sit at the back of the field.

The rear of the field from 17th to 22nd.

Santilal out in front, followed by 2nd to 5th.

Silvestre is being put under pressure by the group of cars behind him.

He doesn’t let that bother him too much, and a few corners later he is already looking for a chance to get by the VSM of Grant.

Grant doesn’t give him the chance to get by, and manages to hold her position. Further back, one of the shame cars has a look up the inside of one of the AMR’s, and it could be Hinz.

It is Hinz, and he loses the position to McGregor.

Or maybe not, as McGregor has off the track.

McGregor rejoins and has to defend from the cars behind, while Hinz is passed by Nell in the Demon.

Copeman looks up the inside on one of the shame cars.

It doesn’t work out for Copeman, and instead ends up locking his brakes to prevent himself from hitting the rear of Karjalainen.

The end result leaves Copeman having to defend from the cars behind him.

The current race leader.

Elleker is doing what he can to make sure he keeps Sheppard in the Demon behind him.

Onboard with Grant, and Silvestre is still on her back.

Looks like De Boer has his hands full holding back the train behind him.

Copeman has another look up the inside of Karjalainen.

But he still isn’t close enough to pass, and stays behind the shameful TNR.

Here is how the top 10 have moved up or down the order.

We ride onboard with De Bruyker as he sets his sights on the SCR of O’Brien.

He has a look up the inside.

But isn’t able to make it past O’Brien cleanly, and makes contact with the SCR.

Leaving O’Brien out in the grass.

He manages to get back on track, but now sits in last place.

Back to the front, as Domenech continues to chase down Santilal for the race lead.

While further behind, we have a few battles taking place.

Van Smirren has a look up the inside of Thomas.

But he wasn’t close enough to pass, and Thomas holds his position.

De Boer has a look up the inside of Copeman.

And he manages to get by, leaving Copeman out wide on the kerb.

McGregor keeps close to the back of Copeman’s JHR.

Here is the distance between the leader and 2nd place.

The Snakes are keeping each other company, but Stoddart looks like he is struggling a little bit as Hayes is very close to the back of him.

It’s still close between Thomas and Van Smirren.

Nell is doing his best to remain in front of the cars behind him, while in the background De Boer is slowly closing in.

Karjalainen decides to have an attempt at passing, and has a look up the inside.

But Hunsley manages to hold the TNR behind him.

De Bruyker has caught up to the back of McGregor.

He gets even closer down the main straight, and has a look up the inside into the first corner.

De Bruyker couldn’t quite make it, and McGregor holds his position.

Back to the battle between Nell and Hinz, as Hinz attempts a move on Nell.

He wasn’t close enough, and Nell is able to keep his position.

Let’s have a look at the current standings as of lap 7.

Here is Kittleson, who has a 1 second advantage over Elleker.

De Boer looks for a passing attempt on Grant as he goes on the outside of the VSM.

And he gets the move done.

Now De Boer has his sights set on Karjalainen’s position.

Hinz has managed to get past Nell, and the cameras must’ve missed the move.

Hayes is under pressure from Kittleson in his Shadow.

And the split shows that there is only 2.5s difference between the two.

Meanwhile, 0.1 seconds separates Nell and Hunsley.

This looks to be the reason. Nell had run wide, which allowed Hunsley to close in.

Back to the front, and Santilal still has the race lead.

Onboard with Sheppard, as he has a look up the inside of Elleker’s AMR.

He isn’t close enough to pass, and Elleker manages to hold onto his position.

0.3s is the difference between Karjalainen and De Boer.

Race leader Santilal is in for his stop.

De Boer is also in for his stop.

Hunsley has a look up the inside of Nell down the main straight.

From Karjalainen’s view, it appears that Hunsley has gotten past Nell.

But he wasn’t able to get in front, and Nell holds his position.

Santilal had rejoined in front of both Nell and Hunsley after taking his stop. Behind him, Hunsley tries again to get in front of Nell.

And still can’t get by. Now he has to focus on keeping the cars behind him at bay.

Domenech is really having a good day so far. He is currently leading the race, but of course it is only until he makes his pitstop.

Thomas is in the pits for his stop.

Van Smirren pitted at the same time as Thomas, and managed to get in front of Thomas on the way out of the pits.

Hunsley rejoins in 21st after taking his stop.

The brief run as leader comes to an end for Domenech as he takes to the pits for his stop.

This leaves Schieder in the lead of the race.

As Mills enters the pits, it appears that pitlane is going to get very busy.

Mills is entering the track after taking his stop, while Santilal and Nell seem to be in battle.

Mills decides to stay out wide, but this ends up costing him a few positions.

By the next corner, Mills soon finds himself behind his teammate.

It’s time for a break. We’ll be back very soon.

GPGSL Rd 1 Australian GP - Season Opener - Tester's Feature Race

Part 2

Welcome back to the coverage of the tester’s feature race.

Grant has caught up to the back of Mills.

She attempts to pass at the next corner.

But Mills manages to keep her back.

De Bruyker gets a good view of the cars ahead as they battle each other.

The pitlane gets busy once again, as Silvestre rejoins back onto the track.

It’s back on between Grant and Mills. Grant looks to the inside.

And succeeds in passing Mills.

Silvestre now has a big group of cars behind him. He’ll need some luck if he wants to keep them behind him.

He manages to hold Copeman back, as Copeman was looking for a passing attempt.

Behind them, McGregor is looking for a passing attempt on Kittleson.

Kittleson held his position, and now McGregor has to defend from Sheppard.

Van Smirren also wants in, as he has caught up to the back of Sheppard.

Sheppard looks up the inside down the main straight.

He wasn’t able to get past McGregor, and looks to have lost ground on the MAC.

Meanwhile, Thomas has been catching up to the back of this group.

Back in the field, Grant looks to have made a mistake, and has allowed Nell in the other Demon to close in on her.

But at the next corner, Nell ends up locking his brakes.

And ends up losing time on the VSM.

Race leader Schieder takes to the pits for his stop, as Nell locks up his brakes once again.

Stoddart is in for his stop as well.

And Elleker is in as well. All of the top 3 have pitted at the same time.

Schieder is out first, followed by Stoddart and Elleker.

Beside McGregor, everyone has now pitted. So here are the current standings.

Mills is under pressure from Silvestre.

The standings before showed Hayes in 4th, and Santilal in 5th. Now Santilal is behind his teammate, and Mills has moved up to 4th. It would seem Hayes and Santilal have made contact with each other, which the cameras have missed.

And it would seem even Domenech was involved in the missed incident.

McGregor is finally in for his stop.

Kittleson has a lockup while defending from Hayes.

Van Smirren currently sits in 10th, and has a 1 second advantage over Thomas.

Domenech is trying his best to get by Hayes’s Snake, but he isn’t close enough yet to make the move stick.

Schieder still leads, and his advantage is now over 2 seconds.

Nell looks to be in trouble. He has missed the apex, and goes wide as a result.

Leaving Nell in the sand.

This explains why Nell went off. He locked up his brakes, which caused him to go wide.

At least he is able to get back ontrack.

It’s quite close for positions 9 to 12.

O’Brien is catching up to the back of De Bruyker’s One.

And he has his teammate behind him to help cover his position.

Onboard with Elleker, and there is no sign of Stoddart in front of him, and with 4 seconds at least back to Mills, Elleker is having a lonely time out on the track.

Now on lap 20, and here is how the standings look.

Hunsley is currently holding down 15th, but De Bruyker is not that far behind.

Karjalainen is not quite close enough to the back of De Boer, but his presence will surely be a problem for the SCR driver.

Hunsley has a big lockup, but still manages to stay in front of De Bruyker.

De Bruyker couldn’t get in front, but doesn’t give up hope and a few corners later he is looking for a chance to pass.

Uh-oh, De Bruyker has locked up, and ends up hitting Hunsley.

De Bruyker manages to stay ontrack.

While Hunsley has to go through the sand to get back onto the track.

He makes back onto the track, but now sits in 21st.

Meanwhile, his teammate is right on the back of Karjalainen.

The rear of the field, all quite close to each other.

While at the front, the distance between 1st and 3rd is quite large.

Karjalainen decides to have a look up the inside of De Boer.

But De Boer manages to hold him back.

Lap 22 standings.

Here is how the top 10 have moved since the start of this race.

De Boer looks for a chance to get by O’Brien, but it is too close for comfort.

We have our first yellow flag situation of the race.

And this appears to be the reason. Copeman has pulled off to the side of the track, and it would seem he has a terminal problem.

The problem is indeed terminal. A Suspension Failure puts Copeman out of the race.

2 laps left to go.

Santilal can only think what could’ve been.

Lap 25 standings.

We are now on the final lap.

Hinz currently sits in 12th. He just hasn’t been able to maximize the speed of his AMR the way that Elleker has been doing with his.

McGregor hasn’t been having a decent race himself, but at least he will be pleased knowing his teammate is in the race lead.

Schieder may have lost the lead on the first lap, but once the pitstops were underway he managed to take the lead, and never looked back.

He enters the last corner.

And crosses the line to win the tester’s feature race, despite driving in the car of shame.

Stoddart finishes in 2nd.

And Elleker finishes 3rd.

It was a truly outstanding performance from the GPGSL rookie. He took pole, and despite losing out to Santilal on the first lap he put in a great performance to ensure he was in position to take the lead once the pitstops were underway. Although it would seem that he would’ve preferred to win the race in MAC Racing’s season 9 car, rather than in the car of shame. Now that the testers have finished up their race, it’s now time for the main event to begin. Coming up soon is qualifying for the full feature race. We’ll see you there.

Greg, it sounds like the gpxset.ini is wrong. I don't know the directory layout for the new mod, having not seen it, but last season's mod had seperate files for each track. You will have to speak to Ruben to remedy the problem if it has changed.

However, if it hasn't, you will need to do the following:

Open the mod directory by double clicking it in the mod list in CSM.
Open Data/GpxPatch/Realistic/Melbourne folder.
Open gpxset.ini and edit the following line:
[SatQual]
ConsecutiveCars=10

Yes, I know it's 10, but it makes 11 cars come out, don't ask me why.

Hope this helps.

Just did this, and now 11 cars are out ontrack. But the laps still show 12.

You did, even though fastest lap doesn't count in feature races for the testers.

Gah! Very frustrating, apologies to Chris for the mechanical failure but on my end very disappointed to have my race ruined through no fault of my own...

Hoping for better come the main event.

(ps: Merry Christmas everyone! :))

Let's face it: somebody has to be last. But what the hell was up with the tyres after the pitstop? I was locking them every single corner...
Overall a good start for the AMR/KFR boys. You could clearly see that Jack was already familiar with the car from his visit last season. Chris also did a good job getting used to the car. But it's also clear that it will be a very tough first race. The cars are close together and small details can and will decide about victory and loss.

Merry Christmas everybody.

the pace was quite good actually. the problem about melbourne really is the grid. if you're starting on the wrong side you'll lose positions. that sort of destroyed my race.
