Qualifying has been run, and we have our pole sitter. I should have the coverage up later.

Thank you Carlos, 2nd place is a good result for the team and myself... especially for my fans and home crowd.
It was my home Grand Prix after all and Spa could never let me down... and it didn't !
And also a big congrats to Audi at LeMans for their win (I hoped that Toyota would win... I drive a Toyota Corolla Sport '92 in real live), ... but like Carlos said " Audi does make our engines after all " !!!

I know that you and stefan will do well in your race at Spa... may the Force of Le Mans be with you guys !!!

What is the rule regarding a second warning for a test driver?

I sense I may soon be dusting off my boots and racing lid.

GPGSL Rd 9 Belgian GP – Qualifying

Hello once again, and welcome back. We are now ready for the start of qualifying. We didn’t see the rain during the tester’s free practice, but there is a good chance of seeing it during both qualifying and the race. We’ll just have to wait and see. So, without further delay let’s head trackside as we get prepared for the start of qualifying.

Weather Report: Light Rain

First man out for the first group of 11 drivers is JHR’s Eric Moinet. As clearly seen, the drivers have to set their times on a wet track.

Here is Jalving, the winner of the previous round.

As the first man out, Moinet sets the initial fastest time.

Warrington is unable to set a better time.

Jalving goes fastest.

Jalving’s time stays unbeaten as the next few drivers set their time.

Greidanus puts his Shadow into 3rd.

TNR finally have some luck on their side, as Horvath goes 2nd fastest.

Pedersen takes the fastest time.

SCR continue to show why they are one of the teams to beat as Cartwright goes 3rd fastest.

Nell goes faster than Cartwright.

The first group of drivers have now finished their first run, so let’s take a look at the standings.

Elleker is the first man out for the second group.

Maverick looks to be held up behind McCarthy. How will this affect both driver’s first flying lap?

Elleker crosses the line, and his time is now the fastest.

Maverick is still being held up by McCarthy. He will not be happy with this.

Having been pressured and held up respectively, McCarthy and Maverick have set the slowest times of the session. These two may have some serious words once they get back to the pits.

Van Renselaar goes faster than Maverick for 11th.

Greenhalgh puts in a good lap to be 6th fastest.

A great lap from Kederer sees the Shadow driver slot into 3rd.

9th for Hayes in her race debut.

While her teammate can only manage 15th.

Gilson slots into 10th. He’ll be a little bit disappointed with that lap.

A very disappointing lap for Scala sees the VSM driver down in 21st.

Edwards goes 17th fastest.

With all drivers now having completed their first run, let’s have a look at the standings.

Schieder has run wide.

And ends up spinning while trying to recover.

He managed to get going again, but the spin cost him any chance of improving.

Greidanus puts himself into the top 10 with a better laptime.

Horvath sets a better laptime and improves up to 7th.

Cartwright also manages to improve.

With the first group now finished with both of their laps, it’s time to look at the standings.

Dejavu for Maverick as Scala has come out in front of the AMR.

This time Maverick finds a way past.

He goes faster than his first lap, but isn’t able to improve his position.

Greenhalgh improves back up to 6th.

14th position for Brunner is not where he would want to be.

Scala goes quicker, and improves up to 18th.

Edwards too manages to improve, but only as far as 13th.

All drivers have now completed their second run, so let’s take a look at the standings.

That’s it. Qualifying has now finished, and we have our pole sitter. Congratulations Jack Elleker and AMR, the pole sitter for The Belgian GP. We’ll see you back again tomorrow for the race.

Results To Come

4th place with this tricky conditions is very good! Gongrats to poleman Elleker, a well deserved pole!

For myself, a 4th place in qualifying is the way to try and score more points tomorrow than Ed & Gilson. Tomorrow my goal is to take the lead in the drivers championship, in front of the many Dutch fans here at the circuit

No pizza for me: Full powerrrrr!

Will need to pull out another drive like last week then

Honestly, how much bad luck can you have? The car was great, Jack showed it! And then two drivers can't get their asses out of my way!!! For the team the double boost combination was very good, for me personally it was just a waste in this case! Go for the win Jack, I give up. This season is completely against me.

10th is not bad, but the gap is pretty big.

I know what livery you're having at Silverstone! :P

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

First pole (I think..?), better go for that first win now too!

Thanks for the kind words everybody...it is lovely to know that I will be missed.

But there is no nicer way to announce my retirement than seeing Jack and Michael on the front row together. I knew they had it in them and boy I can't half pick 'em. My only slight regret is that they aren't both in a Christel...

Well, that was a difficult session. Jake just seemed to have zero grip, while Seb seemed to be ok? Totally mystifying. We weren't expecting too much out of qualifying - hoping for midpack with a bit of luck : seems we were at both ends of the spectrum today!
