Front row lock-out! Great result for MPR, I wonder what the race will bring us.

I did not think I had the pace to fight for pole, but the rain was good for me. Close fight on top with Gilson and Greenhalgh. With the 3 title contenders in the first 3 places it will be an exiting race; the start will be important for sure

+7BHP boost and a driver boost and 21st on the grid - I'm starting to think I must have smashed some mirrors and run over half a dozen black cats...

Race has been run and won. 2 retirements all together, both mechanical related. I should have the first 2 parts up in the next few hours.

We seem to have inherited the Christel curse. We could never get both cars into decent positions at the same time. Mind you, I think that must be something to do with GP4.

GPGSL Rd 8 Brazilian GP – Race Day

Part 1

Hello once again. We are now ready for the start of the race. It’s an all MPR front row, with Jalving on pole. Behind the MPRs are both SCRs and Ones. Who knows what will happen out on the track, but championship wise this race could possibly see a new championship leader once it’s all over. Well then, let’s head trackside as the cars have all made it back to the grid from their warmup lap, and the RD is ready to push the big green button.

Weather Report: Sunny With A Small Chance of Rain

The cars are all lined up, ready to get started once all 5 lights go out.

They are off. Gilson looks to have made a great start, as did both MPRs, while further back a few drivers have already made some passes.

Jalving takes the lead out of the first corner, while behind him Gilson and Greenhalgh go side by side. The rest of the field meanwhile jostle for position through the turns.

Gilson tries for a passing move on Greenhalgh, but is unsuccessful in getting by the MPR.

There’s not much in it between the cars at the moment.

Jalving takes the fastest lap.

Maverick has a fight on his hand to hold onto his current position.

He goes for a move on Steer, while up the road Rodriguez manages to get by Cartwright.

Unfortunately for Maverick, Steer manages to hold his position.

Greidanus heads the train at the rear of the field.

But no, Greidanus has gone off. This is going to cost the Shadow driver a few positions as he makes his way back onto the track.

At least he makes it back ontrack with no damage sustained except for loss of positions.

As we ride onboard with Elleker while he chases down Brunner, the timing shows that Rodriguez has taken the fastest lap.

Elleker goes to the inside of the Snake.

And the AMR driver makes the move stick.

Kederer looks like he is close enough to make a move on Brunner.

And he does. That’s two positions lost within the space of two corners for the Snake driver.

It looks like he could end up losing more positions soon as the other cars behind him are very close to him.

Nell tries to get by, but Brunner is able to defend his position.

Behind them, McCarthy and Greidanus are fighting over 21st.

The battle eventually ends in Greidanus’s favour. Meanwhile, the timing shows that Maverick has made it in front of Steer.

Schieder looks to have his hands full holding off the VSM that is trying to get by.

But sadly he wasn’t able to hold Warrington back for long. Ahead of them, Legge has managed to get by Pedersen.

Having managed to get by one MAC, Warrington now has a look at a possible passing move on Pedersen.

Unfortunately for Warrington, Pedersen is able to hold onto his position.

With the race now halfway through lap 4, let’s look at the standings.

Schieder now finds himself having to defend from the TNR of Edwards.

Edwards goes up the inside of Schieder.

But he wasn’t close enough to make it front, so Schieder holds onto his position. Elleker meanwhile lurks behind the two.

The timing shows that Greidanus has made it past Brunner’s Snake.

We find Horvath who is currently running in 10th.

Onboard with Rodriguez now, and it appears that he is going to try for a passing attempt on his teammate.

He goes up the inside.

And Rodriguez gets the move done.

Now Cartwright wants his chance to get by.

He goes up the inside of Van Renselaar.

And the SCR driver makes the move stick.

It appears that Scala has managed to get by Horvath for 10th, which the cameras had somehow missed.

Also, Warrington has finally gotten by Pedersen.

And Elleker also has made a position gain. He has gotten in front of Edwards.

At the rear of the field we find the Snake of Brunner. What happened to the Snake driver?

It would seem that McCarthy managed to get by Brunner into the first corner.

Van Renselaar has managed to close in on Cartwright once again.

He has a look up the inside of the SCR.

And he succeeds in getting by.

Moinet and Maverick wait patiently for their chance to make their move.

Nell finds himself having to defend from Edwards down the main straight.

The Demon driver holds his position, while behind them it appears that Greidanus has made it in front of Kederer.

McCarthy now looks for his chance to get by Kederer.

But he isn’t quite close enough just yet, and Kederer holds his position.

Edwards couldn’t get by Nell in the first turn, but was able to get by at turn 3.

At the rear, Kederer looks to be holding McCarthy up which is allowing Brunner to close in on the JHR.

Out at the front, Jalving now has a 3 second lead back to… Gilson? Not long ago it was Greenhalgh in 2nd, so something must have happened.

Replay time. It appears that Gilson had managed to close in on Greenhalgh to the point that he could have a look up the inside.

He got in front of Greenhalgh, but the defending champion wasn’t willing to just let the current championship leader have his way and fought back straight away.

It also allowed Rodriguez to close in on them.

With 8 laps now completed, let’s take a look at the standings.

Time for a quick break. We’ll be back soon.

Well, I'm certainly tense.

The two Southern Cross cars as well as the One Racing duo of Carlos and Stefan looks quick.

When I saw Ruben slide off early on I could just imagine the frustration going across both his and Tom's faces.

Come on Shadow!

GPGSL Rd 8 Brazilian GP - Race Day

Part 2

Welcome back as we continue our coverage of the Brazilian GP.

Greenhalgh has managed to get back in front of Gilson, and now the SCR driver has to defend from Rodriguez.

But it doesn’t seem like Rodriguez is close enough yet to try a move on Gilson.

Now he has to worry about defending from his teammate.

The timings show that Kederer has lost a position.

Greidanus heads the cars at the rear of the field.

Jalving still leads from Greenhalgh, who is 3 seconds behind. MPR are looking for a 1-2 result if they stay where they are.

3rd place however is far from being settled. Gilson has the advantage for now, with Rodriguez in 4th. Behind them, Moinet has made a move on Van Renselaar for 5th.

The move from Moinet looks to have slowed Van Renselaar down a little bit, as he now has both Cartwright and Maverick looking for their chance to get by.

Cartwright manages to get by the One, while to the right it looks like Moinet is starting to pull off to the side of the track.

But wait, there’s contact between Van Renselaar and Maverick. As a result, the One go off track and Maverick is able to continue on. Scala meanwhile has to lockup to avoid ramming into the back of Maverick, while Moinet continues to head off track.

It looks like Moinet has a terminal problem, and the word from the Frenchman is that his transmission has failed. How heartbreaking is that for both driver and team, as Moinet was in a good position to possibly score a top 5 finish.

Van Renselaar now has a big problem on his hands as he defends from the cars behind him.

As we focus on our race leader, the confirmation of Moinet’s retirement is shown on the standings.

Scala has managed to get by Van Renselaar.

While behind him, both Steer and Warrington decide to try for a passing move at turn 3.

No dice this time around for both drivers.

Jalving is looking lonesome out there.

Steer decides to try and make a move on Van Renselaar.

But he wasn’t close enough to make it work, so Van Renselaar keeps his position. Meanwhile, Legge gets by Horvath to move into the top 10.

That leaves the TNR driver with the job of having to defend from the cars behind.

Warrington doesn’t waste any time, and has a look up the inside of Horvath.

And the VSM driver takes 11th from Horvath.

Horvath must really be feeling the pressure now.

At least his teammate doesn’t have much to worry about.

Maybe not. Greidanus has closed in closer to Edwards.

He has a look up the inside.

And succeeds in getting by.

13 laps in to this race now, so let’s take a look at the standings.

We go onboard with Steer as Legge goes up the inside.

And the Demon moves ahead one position.

Behind them, Elleker has managed to get by the MAC Racing car of Pedersen.

Which leaves Pedersen in the clutches of his teammate.

Schieder succeeds in passing his more experienced teammate.

Pitstop action has now begun. Greenhalgh, Gilson and Rodriguez are the first of the front runners to pit.

Looks like more drivers are pitting this lap as well, based on how busy the lane looks right now.

Disaster for Gilson as he is held up in the pits.

Greenhalgh rejoins in 15th.

Gilson and Rodriguez rejoins in 16th and 17th.

Jalving is now in for his stop.

Cartwright too is in.

That leaves Maverick with the race lead.

More pitlane action.

Brunner makes his move on McCarthy.

Jalving rejoins in 10th, ahead of his teammate.

Cartwright rejoins in 13th, in between his teammate and Rodriguez.

Scala rejoins in 15th ahead of Legge.

While behind them, Steer rejoins in 17th ahead of Elleker.

Maverick heads into the pits for his stop, which leaves Van Renselaar in the lead.

It’s time that we take another break. We hope to be back soon.

Huge credit for you Greg for getting the whole weekend up and ready so fast and almost like a real GP weekend. Testers on friday, qualy on saturday and now race on sunday, what an awesome timing. Thank you for sacrificing your time, and the same goes to all RDs.

As for the race, well, since I got out behind Joseph it seems that I was held up just like him. Hopefully this won't interfere with my race, as I had managed to pull out from Stefan and the pack. The car is responding awesomely, let's do this! And forza Stefan, you can get away!
