Not a very promising training result in regards to the main event. Jack and I will need a miracle, or a very random GP4, to fight for another team win.

I understand your point, Glen. Partly this is due to the wished for and needed post-season correction that brings the drivers closer together than they'd be without it. However, without that Ed would be dominating every race by now. The other part is, as you say, GP4's randomness. But there's nothing we can do about this. And it's actually not so far off (realism-wise) that you're beaten by a young team mate. You're not the youngest anymore, and ...
My point is, in F1 Ricciardo is regularly beating Vettel, Bottas is regularly beating Massa...so it happens. Your observation isn't exactly new and especially absolute newcomers most always bring home good results. Don't ask me how GP4 does it, but most of our newcomers have top ten finishes in their very first test session.
