Hello to everybody,

when we add a haze to a track, sadly it doesn't look that good in game as it should, for example here:

For a better understanding I contrasted the pic a bit more, so that the problem should be quite obvious:

And my question is:
What can we do to avoid the haze having that weird pattern?
Has anyone got an idea?

Looks good (Y). I hope there will be a release ;-).

Jorge's suggestion over at GP4Forever doesn't sound that bad as well (Y).

@klausfeldmann A video of the issue would speak a thousand words, what technique are you using to produce haze ?

If you want to see what it look's like, this feature was already there in Imola 2004 Track released in ... 2004 !
I don't know where you can get it now anyway. I only have the 1.5 update files I made...

Well, I think the secong picture shows everything about the haze-issue we have to know ;-).

I produced my own haze with an image sofware. I thought it was good, but it wasn't xD.
Here we go:

If you want to, you can download it here:

Yes great! I just extracted it from the imola track ;-).
So, it looks like that:

Obviously there is a 'hole' in the middle of the haze, where the cars have to go though. That seems to be the clou here.
Did I understand that right???

Of course, it means, that it is not really a haze for the TCam, than more for TV, but nevertheless it's a very good feature (Y).

@ klausfeldmann .....Yup picking up from where lo2k left off (and using an image a little bigger than a postage stamp) would be a good place to start ;-)

@lo2k ....didn't gildoorf take this any further ?

Nope, Gildoorf gave me the track for enhancements and I just started using the same old technique than in Imola 2004 (available on GP4DB, thanks ISaint).

I had this idea floating around for ages, just tried it and totally forgot the car model doesn't support transparent and/or animated textures.

A layered fog using the visor is all I could get, useless without being able to fade the edges off with transparency.

Bummer...close but no cigar :-)

Simply increase height of your rings and you won't have to deal with edge transparency (the further the taller)...
But you will be annoyed by the clipping of transparent rings through all the track geometry...

Isn't that the track with reversed Imola '94 layout?

Great colours in that shot, it almost looks like a photo, looks like colour filter overlay and an obscene amount of AA :-)
