Traditionally hasnt the left side started better? ie the original pole side?

Gonna be interesting... The start of Malaysia often involves t3 too.

Another fascinating qualifying session. I agree that the Button Q2 lap was incredible.

The world feed coverage seems to be lacking a bit this year, we didn't get much footage of the final laps, particularly Vettel's live.

I think McLaren must have used options in Q1, considering they were half a second up on Vettel. On the other hand, they were still down on Massa, so probably using scrubbed tyres, where as Ferrari used new option tyres, which hurt them in Q3.

great grid, it's going to be a hell of a race, from the start..

Mclaren are bitchslapping Mercedes and Ferrari quite hard... they where convinced they had the speed to be behind RedBulls but the truth is they are nowhere near, lol... time to stop talking and start working

Looking forward to Nick's race...

Great quali, much closer at the top than expected, thought Red Bull would be walking it, there isn't a whole lot between the top four and the difference between a good and bad start will be big! Fair play to Heidfeld too, I've always had a soft spot for Nick and it was great to see him redeem himself after his bad weekend in Oz!

Looking forward to tomorrow morning!

Nope, both Mclarens and RB ran primes for the Q1. Unsure why RB were so far down though.

The Mclaren is faster on the harder tyres than RBR have been all weekend.

Ive read so... I figure that must be getting more out of the hards means getting more out of the options, therefore not lasting as long. Or maybe that is over simplifying a complex subject.

Either way, will be exciting! The change in pole side does indeed baffle me. As far as ive seen over the years the left side (previous pole side) has tended to get the better run to T1... Is the change primarily due to the Pirelli's marbling so much? But as Lewis says, if it has rained this evening then it will be no different, and Lewis will have the desired line into T1 technically.

It will be interesting to see a tyre wear comparison between Button and Hamilton tomorrow, assuming it's a dry race.

If Button remains 4th after Lap 1, he can probably stay there and conserve tyres whilst still keeping a gap over Alonso. If he can do one stop less than the rest, it will add a lot of flexibility to his race, particularly if there is a safety car at some point.

I would keep an eye out on MS as he will start on hards I would think and could be in the mix, did anyone in the top 10 use hards?

Button will have to go for it and not hold back due to the people starting on hards, they can do one stop less but I think everyone starting on softs will need an extra stop at least 3 stops and people on hards could stop just twice.

This should be fantastic, apparently there are some raindrops at the track and some showers in the area.

It would be great to see Vettel in an full-on battle, to see if he has improved from Turkey and Spa last year.

The track is doing a great job as well - wide, and allows for different lines through corners. Good overtaking opportunities as well

AAARGH why do they keep cutting away from battles on the pit straight to show us people driving out of the pits? FFS.

EDIT: Oops! Alonso trying to use Lewis as a launchpad there. Wrecked his race.
