Just read it on the f1 site, great news and I especially like their explanation for using the endurance layout this year ;).

That's great news. I hated that 'endurance' bit. Ok, the circuit isn't great but the extra corners made it distinctly worse.

Ah, awesome. Bahrain gets a lot of hate, but I actually like the track. The new version was really bad though, so going back to the original is a big plus.

To be honest, the endurance section pretty much ended up being the reason why the race was so **** this year - you couldn't get two cars side by side in those corners...

Thank goodness they've seen sense - hopefully the racing will improve in 2011 (in comparison to this year)

My favourite would be the outer perimeter layout, it looks awesome. If only they had the balls to go for it.

The Bahrain GP should use this layout:

;)

Um dois três quatro cinco seis sete oito nove dez
Eins zwei drei vier fünf sechs sieben acht neun zehn
One two three four five six seven eight nine ten
Один два три четыре пять шесть семь восемь девять десять

The percentage of track which would be flat out there now would be scary. I'd love to see a modern F1 in anger there for to see how fast it could be. It was stupidly fast as it was - way faster than the map makes it look.

Wouldn't need the chicane though. ;-)

Got to love the imagination of the new(old ) circuit though.

They just tightened all the corners and scaled it down a little ;)!

edit, If RBR win this years WDC/WCC or both we should force them to use the A1-ring again!!!!! Just plaster it with RB advertising!

It was the first map I found. ;)

Anyway, I guess it'd be flat-out from Rindt Kurve to (assuming no chicane) Dr. Tiroch Kurve, where they'd go down to 5th, then flat-out until Boschkurve (maybe 4th), 5th through Schikane and Rindt...

Jacky Ickx averaged 1:42 per lap on the 1970 GP. How fast would be a lap nowadays? ;)

Looking at my cache of Racingcircuits.net, I'm surprised at how much changed for the A1-Ring. Despite watching all the Zeltweg-era races, I wasn't aware just how scaled-back it was - I was under the impression the first 3 straights were shortened by a few hundred metres and the corners refined, but it's completely different. There are 3 sections of straight which have parts born on the old track and no corners use the same tarmac, except the right-hander on the exit of those double left-handers (named Lauda and Berger).

I used to really enjoy the A1-Ring on GPx, though for whatever reason, we've never raced Zeltweg in Vader Trophy yet, which is strange, as we've raced all the classic tracks... other than Imola now I think of it. Indeed, as I'm bored, I've listed the ones we've raced below. :D

Aintree
Anderstorp
Bathurst
Buenos Aires 1967
Castle Combe
Clermont-Ferrand (epic track)
Crystal Palace
Dijon
Dundrod (epic track)
Falkenberg
Goodwood
Interlagos 1973
Isle of Man (epic track... obviously)
Kyalami
Laguna Seca
Le Mans Sarthe (epic track)
Leipzig
Lime Rock Park
Lydden Hill
Mexico
Monaco (epic track)
Montjuic Parque
Montlhery
Monza
Mosport
Nurburgring (epic track... obviously)
Oulton Park
Rouen (epic track)
Sebring 1959
Silverstone
Silverstone Club
Snetterton
Solitude (epic track)
Spa (epic, epic, epic track)
Vallelunga
Watkins
Watkins Glen 1948 (epic track)
Zandvoort

Zeltweg is due to be raced later this season. It's taken until season 10 to get to it.

Rouen needs to be resurrected.
