Rubens was always a fairly universally liked bloke (Bruno excepted), but he's still managed to do nothing but go up in the eyes of others after this. He dealt with the situation humanly and, despite calling for a black flag (not unjustified after you've just been shoved into the pitwall at 180mph+) the guys credit has soared.

The words "that was horrible" must have rarely been executed so well.

Rubens was in the publics eye anyway due to just being on Top Gear.

It's not the first time that MSC does something like that. Pay attention to him at the start (1:40)

If he didn't respect his brother, he is certainly not going to respect Rubens

That's not quite as bad, as there was still 'lots' of room both next to and ahead of Ralf.

Yeah. I don't know what's up with MS at the moment, but his defensive moves on other drivers this season have mainly been even worse than his moves during his main career. He's been well out of order before of course, but he's never done anything quite this extreme IIRC. His moves this year have really been shockers.

I think that's because he is more desperate due to the car's poor performance.

Also, he has probably defended more this year than all of 2001, 2002 and 2004 combined.

that was because ralf was smart enough to NOT go to the inside. rubens saw there's very tiny space and put his car in there anyway.

saying that i also agree that the move on sunday was extremely brutal, i just dont think it was against the exact rules which require a car space. this space was there.
again, only my opinion :-)

peopleeeeee-e-e did you read the latest news.
jackie stewart, wurz, marc gene, and eddie irvine all jumped on schumacher. it is really said and unnececary. especially for eddie irvine.he got so much support from schuey when he needed it. :(
michael is just cursed in F1. i cant remember of a SINGLEE season where he wasnt critised: 1992,1994,1995,1996,1997,1999,2000,2002,2006,2005,2010 !!!!!!
and the funny thing is all this always used to make him stronnger, always !
i still cant imagine for example after 1997, when everyone was against him, the whole world, the whole sport, the whole paddock, EVERYONE, how did he manaage to pull out a season like 1998 despite all of that ?????!?!?!
or 2006 after monaco, Unbelievable comeback indeeed. i am really curious to see how it all develops this time.
i still remember how he looked at the beggining of the season and comparing gim to the beggining of lets say '98 or '06 the difference is huuuuge. I never saw him smile in pre season interwies then, never. and it will be the same again, it just looks like there is no way out of this. Schumi simply cant loose.
And maybe that is why i defend him. In real life i also make everything possible within the rules to not loose, in any kind of sport i have ever been training. This kiler instinct is what makes schumacher so bad for a lot of people, but that what makes him the favourite driver in my eyes.

What on earth are you talking about?

A driver who very nearly puts another driver in the wall at 180+mph deserves be criticised for that very move, this is the same driver who accused both Damon Hill and David Coulthard of trying to kill him in 1998, though admittedly Hill's move at Montreal was idiotic, Coulthard's was more down to the conditions.

Look Schumacher is a great driver, a great racer... but at times he is shockingly dangerous, and often for little reason.

Sorry, but if someone doesn't think twice about driving into the side of someone deliberately, then they're not about to go on a guilt trip, and are presumably happy to deal with any consequences which may arise, be they punishment (which wasn't enough in 1997) or a backlash from the media, fans or fellow drivers.

With someone like Schumacher, it's not a split-second decision, but the very fabric from which they're made.

Apparently he was fine in 1993, 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2004.

Most of the things u guys said, are actually true.Ye,the move was dangerous, and it nearly finished with crash, but thank god non of them happened.Still,u can see a lot of similar situations in another racing categories, like DTM,WTCC etc etc, they're
pushing, scratch ,go literally wheel to wheel, and yet no one whines about that.
Look at this crash for example, the dude was pushing him all the time, and at the end it came to accident, and no one called him idiot or something like that, because they were RACING.And that's what we can't see so often these days in F1.Also,i think that actually Schumi-Barichelo accident was looking a lot more dangerous then it really was.

It's no big deal, the way I see it, if it was the other way around people wouldn't criticize the move, they would probably be saying, "that's what he deserves after all the years rubens spent in ferrari, or he races like that so everyone should race him hard as well"

I'm sure he has no problem with critics, they've been around ever since he started and showed he was the best... He's that great, no other driver that finishes 11 is so relevant, or gives so much to talk about!

@FilipKaraburma that accident is big but it wasnt at 290 km/h in the main straight... think about the lots of people that are in the pitlane during the race, and the car parts that can fly from the wrecked cars, it would be a disaster

Most interesting point so far. I do think people would cheer if Rubens had barraged Michael into that wall. Kinda contradicts my previous wording.

2001 / 2002: Barrichello (Austria)
2004: Montoya (Imola)

There's also 1991, where he left Jordan for Benetton. Wasn't really a racing incident but it just shows how controversial he was even in his early career.
