I always find Hockenheim a fantastic track but is Aesthetically ugly! With track edge white lines that use spaghetti as a guide, curbs that start stop or are just missing (Pit Lane straight) and a track width that well just changes (coming away from the Hairpin & before the Mobil 1 Kurve).

So I thought I'd have a look at Google Earth to see if I was in charge of the Track where I would make changes to make it easier to the eye. To my surprise the image is March 2000, so it shows the old track, but the pictures embedded show how the track looks now & frightening to think drivers used to race around this place @ 200mph and now they are grassed tracks....

They should use it as part of Rally Germany, for a special stage!

i wonder when those pictures were taken.

i was there in 2007, the top straight was completely overgrown. i was amazed how quickly the trees had come back.

have to see if i can dig out the photos

Anyone know if it's still possible to walk round the old track? The first straight out into the forest looks like it's getting pretty overgrown(having said that I was surprised on the BBC coverage at the weekend to see how clear the outline of that straight still is - it looked as if the trees are being cut back or controlled there), but the other parts look like they're being kept clear.
