Basing this on nothing but speculation and oz-tinted favouritism, if indeed webber was in the lead and this situation arose I'd suspect it'd be a non-issue and the thought wouldn't cross anybody's mind to take a wing off vettel's car and give it to webber. I'd personally hope that webber would have told whoever came up with the idea to pull their head in

I dont understand how this is being accepted.

Button and Brawn would have got slaughtered if this happened by them last year! They were accused enough as it was. But here we have a team openly admit one driver has better parts than other. Not only that, but the driver with the better part has taken that part from the other driver. What is the difference between this and Austria 01/02?? The man in the better champ posistion got preference.

There would be no issue if RBR bought 1 new wing and gave it to Vettel. But for Vettel to have his broken, THEN take Webbers is unacceptable, and if RBR want to create an environment where Webber thinks Vettel is favoured, they are going the right way about it.

Im amazed at how this is acceptable by some fans yet various incidents at Brawn last year came under question by some. I really really really hope Webber wins.

edit - [www.autosport.com]

Heikki's view.

If anything it shows RBR's inexperience as a team still.

Rubens had a hissy fit because it went wrong (not dissimilar to Hamiltons recently), and I remember some Brazilians doing some moaning. Apart from that I can't think of anyone accusing Brawn of favouritism.

I dont understand how this is being accepted.

Because when you look passed the fact this is RBR, Vettel and Webber, it is a complete non-issue. This sort of thing happens all the time. Remember Virgin giving an entirely different chassis to it's 'top' driver?

At the end of the day, Vettel is ahead in the championship, therefore gets preference. Just like whoever is on pole gets pit stop preference (or it may be whoever is ahead at the time, I don't know, but it doesn't matter). Vettel is only ahead because of how terrible Webber was at Valencia.

I really really really hope Webber wins.

Why? Because of some bizarre hatred based on a finger and RBR giving the lead driver the new parts? I'm wanting Webber to win and Vettel second because it'll bring everyone back in line in the title. But it seems it's more peoples emotions getting in the way here than actually wanting a proper battle.

Here is my take on the...'logic', used here

McLaren was biased towards Hamilton. Nobody hated Hamilton for it.
McLaren was biased towards Kimi. Nobody hated Kimi for it.
McLaren was biased towards Hakkinen. Nobody hated Hakkinen for it.
McLaren was biased towards Senna. Nobody hated Senna for it.
Ferrari was biased towards Schumacher. Nobody hated Schumacher for it. (They did hate him for other reasons though)
Jordon was biased towards Hill. Nobody hated Hill for it.
Renault was biased towards Alonso. Nobody hated Alonso for it. (but did for other reasons).
Red Bull is/was/might be biased towards Vettel. Vettel is scum and a spoiled child suddenly.

Sorry, wat?

Edited for spelling.

More on topic - how will RBR screw this one up then? Random failure, accident, or other?

vettel will run wide in about lap 37, regain it and then have a subsequent mechanical failure because of it 3 laps later. Webber will be held up by a faulty fuel rig in his first pit stop, get frustrated and drive through the backmarkers recklessly, controversially receiving a drive through penalty for it.

A faulty fuel rig...lol :-)

What software is RBR using in that flash simulator, I only caught the last bit of that.

now we just need the fuel rig to go wrong, and the inevitable question as to why there was a fuel rig involved at all, and i'm all up in it for the win

Seems like it was Vettel cutting in on Lewis a bit too much that did that. Too aggressive too early.

maybe yeah, but then again didn't Hamilton get penalty at spa 2008 despitate that Kimi did retire the race?:)

edit! now there was an interview with Kubica and he said Alonso would have just let him go if not the retirement so that's ok :)
