I was a little sceptical about it before... but I must say, it looks fantastic!

I was very happy with the old Silverstone, didn't really see the need to change it - however I'm really looking forward to seeing the new layout in action now - 'specially since Martin sold it effectively with "imagine what I'm doing only a hell of a lot faster" ;)

Gayest. Sig. ever.

(Ps, cool new layout).

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

I totally agree, but less so about the track

Silverstone always provides good races with lots of overtaking, they got rid of the last sector that never provides overtaking for a totally new one with lots of posibilities to overtake.... and it seems fun to drive.. definitely liking it!

Yes, it doesn't look too bad.

Its good that they actually named all the corners as well, its a pity that most new Tilke tracks don't bother with that.

btw, that car looked like an absolute dog to drive (although the conditions wouldn't have helped)

Abbey looks like a good corner so long as it's not flat-out and the new Club wouldn't be bad if it wasn't for the tarmac run-off, but the rest of the new section, as expected, just looks like a generic modern track that could be planted into any of the Tilke tracks and look right at home.

And there'll never be any overtaking into Brooklands unless someone runs wide. It's not going to happen. It happens in touring cars and other tin-tops, but it's not somewhere that's easy to overtake in single-seaters, even in the lower categories. It's got a very quick entry for such a tight corner too, and you just scrub speed off as you go through it, so it's not as if it's a massive braking zone either. It'll be piss-simple to defend your position.

The tarmac runoff at Club apparently is the old layout, so at least they have the option to change it back.

There is a lot too much tarmac around the track now - for example coming onto the main straight - what was the point of putting it there.

I think it may be the GP Masters 2 seater.

As a layout... I don't think it'll be any worse than any other Silverstone layout, we'll all have our favourites, but at least most of the good stuff has been retained.

I won't judge as a venue until the BGP, but I agree that I'm puzzled by the new run off along the soon to be ex start finish straight, why do you need epic run off on the straight? Seems to me it's taking the crowd further back. And the slight revisions to the Maggots/Becketts/Chapel & Club complexes strike me as unnecessary as well.

On the positive side though they've actually done something.... seeming on time! Which for the UK is unheard of :P Compared to the Donington fail this is a bit of a win.

It was requested for MotoGP because Woodcote isn't as easy on a bike as in a car.

New layout looks fine. As long as the old layout stays.

Wasn't it because Bridge was deemed too dangerous for a bike?

I mean the run off at Woodcote. It was non-existent, which is fine for a car, not for a bike.

FIA/FOM requested an updated pit lane and paddock for F1 too, so they killed 2 birds with 1 stone and fixed the layout for the bikes too.

See to me it just looks likes it's been Tilkified :(. I've no idea if he had any input but the new sections corners just remind me of parts of Sepangs sections :(. Maybe I'll grow to love it (I hope so), and maybe I just think they shouldn't have fixed what wasn't broken.
