The 2010 launches are starting to loom, so far here's the teams with concrete dates for their launches:

I'm happy they aren't all launching at once, otherwise we would have got a deluge of launches, then not a whole lot left to look forward to.

Do you think there should be other days and tracks in reserve in case the weather prevents / curtails running?

And do you agree that all teams should have 15 days of testing, with those who miss group tests should have their own?

Mercedes on the 25th...

This is my favourite time of year... the unveiling of the cars!

I heard Bahrain is on standby to stage a test if the weather stuffs up any of the european testing...

It will be interesting to see some of the liveries this year. Hopefully now that we've lost a few of the white cars, we get some more distinctive liveries. In particular, I hope Renault returns to their black/yellow livery.

That's unlikely given how Renault seem to be majority owned by geni of whatever it is.

We hope every year but somehow they manage to make their car uglier and uglier each year!!!!

I hope Mercedes livery differs from the photoshop's they released!

True, but in 2010 they have no title sponsor, meaning they don't have to adjust their livery to the Mild Seven or ING colours.

Maybe, but considering they have kept the Renault name as part of the deal, you would think they would have some sort of Renault identity in the livery. Part-ownership and sponsorship are different things, so I'm not really expecting many large Genii logos on the car

...yet. The takeover/stake selling was only recently completed, so I doubt any major sponsors would be interested in opening negotiations until that was settled either way.

I'm interested to see what McLaren come up with, since Mercedes have intellectual property rights over the "Silver Arrows".

McLaren has already said they will keep a relatively similar design to 2009.

The McLaren livery, as far as I know, is their own. They dont have to do anything. The silver pays homage to Mercedes, but also Vodafone as their title sponsor. I can't imagine any significant changes until they separate with Vodafone. McLaren learned in 1996 that having their cars painted as red and white fag packets was detrimental to their own brand. Obviously they lost a good chunk of their corporate identity after they were dropped by Philip Morris so they formed their own paint company and designed their own livery to ensure in a large part it couldn't happen again.

Yes. McLaren will buy back their stake over the next two years.

They did used to look like a cigarette pack, but many ppl still identify mclaren with white and red/orange, they're logo is actually red/orange. So maybe once the merc side is completely dropped or earlier, they could replace all the silver with white. they wouldn't need to redesign the livery, just change one colour. I think that would be awesome. Retro McLaren colour code!!!
