Silverstone unveils new Stowe Complex16 November 2009The British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC), owners of Silverstone, have revealed the new Stowe Complex, which is due to be completed by next March. The area boasts - as well as a 1.15-mile circuit - test facilities, new pit garages and hospitality areas.
With MotoGP heading to the Northamptonshire venue in 2010 and Formula One also possibly staying, the Stowe Complex is the first part of a £7m overhaul which is currently in progress; the changes will also include modifications to the Grand Prix circuit ahead of the MotoGP race in mid-June.
As well as presenting a test track, the Stowe Complex includes a three-lane irrigated wet handling pad to simulate varying levels of grip, from standard wet tarmac to sheet ice.
The new hospitality units, designed to serve both the Stowe Complex and South Circuit, include feature roof terraces for viewing purposes plus meeting rooms and fully-functional kitchens. The interiors of both buildings can be modified in order to suit the party using the facilities at any given time.
Including the latest additions, Silverstone now has five different track configurations.
