Digging deep for that one!

I'm dissapointed. I like Kubica, but hate Renault. Gonna be a mixed emotion next year.

The Flanker is gone. :(

With experience suddenly fashionable again in F1, maybe Bourdais will be getting a call from Renault?

Haha... unlikely.

Well Bourdais was saying the only reason he never got the Renault drive was due to the fact he would not sign for Flavio to manage him. God knows if that is true or not.

Please, no. Renault surely aren't that desperate?! ;)

Monagny is an F1 rookie, he's even less experienced that Grosjean despite having more racing experience in other categories. He'd be just as much of a risk, so no.

Not quite, Montagny has done 7 races to Grosjean's 5.

But I agree that he shouldn't be given the seat - it should go to a current F1 driver. It looks almost certain that one or more of Kovalainen, Heidfeld or Trulli will be out of a drive, so they would be a good start

Yep, I think it will be Kovalainen...purely because he's a known quantity and Bob Bell needs stability in the Renault camp. Grosjean will probably go back to testing for them.

Be interesting to see how this partnership goes. As others have raised, Renault may not produce a winning car and Kubica doesn't seem to cope all that well with an underperforming car.

Kubica's stock has taken a considerable hit due to his form this year I think. Albeit he's driving a crap car, for someone who's as talented as him (Supposedly), I expected more from him.

Stepping stone to bigger things, although where he'd go after Renault I've no idea.

Heidfeld vs Kubica

2007 61 - 39
2008 60 - 75
2009 15 - 9

Considering how lowly most people rate Heidfeld and highly rate Kubica, that isn't very impressive for Kubica. I'd really like to know why people have this perception. It's bizarre...it's as if people hear an opinion on TV and just go along with it without actually knowing about it. I'm guessing it's because he was technically in contention for the driver's title in 2008 in an inferior car but, again, check the results, Heidfeld's season wasn't far off and we've seen drivers switch pace depending on how the car suits them. Therefore, I've yet to be convinced that he's even better than Heidfeld. Moving on to that though...

Why do people see Nick as "solid" and "nothing special", sometimes even "boring"? I think many drivers wouldn't mind having a replay vid such as this:

That move around the outside of Alonso I am still in awe of. Of course, you can still think Heidfeld is nothing special but, I'd expect you to say the same of Kubica unless you had some pretty bloody good reasons.

Nice clip Stef. I agree with you, I'd rather have Heidfeld in my team as I think he's done a great job at BMW and kept his effort up during the tough times this year which is what a team needs a driver to do.

Kubica can turn up and drive blindingly great while Nick has no flash. Kubica overtakes and fights for it, Nick always looks like he just inherits the positions. Kubica had less luck with his aggressive style, I believe he had more retirements than Heidfeld.

Heidfeld is someone you can trust, he's always there in races, Kubica might be fast, but that's not enough, you got to finish the races, "to finish first, first you have to finish", he risks too much and usually gets involved in Lap 1 incidents

Yeah, it's awful that people have their own opinions isn't it?

What that video seems to suggest is that Nick Heidfeld has made 1 overtaking move in the dry in the past 2 years.

nice video, few double overtaking maneuvers there.
Nick is usually the heaviest car on the grid, he doesn't pose for pole or papers to be embarrased come race day

Nick might not be the best driver on the grid, but i don't rate Kubica much higher than Nick, in fact i don't think he's better at all, he hasn't achieved anything
