Anyone else not suprised? Should really show us if Rossberg has the skills to win in a competitive car. From what i have seen he has beaten Nakajima this season in results by a long way... and whether thatss because Nakajima is poor, or the car is poor and Rossberg is amazing we dont know.

Anyway at least Rubens gets a nother year in F1, and Williams may be even more competitive next year with their flywheel KERS if they get it up and running

I'd like to see him at Brawn still but then the prospect of Button-Nico is too good! Im be supprised of Mclaren didnt give him a call ;-)!

I hope for Rubens that Williams is better than Brawn next year.

If they get Hulkenberg in as well, it will be an excellent mix of youth and experience (and probably one of the biggest ever age gaps in F1 history)

i don't see the point in rubens going to williams really, unless they produce a winning car. he's been in F1 for so many seasons now, why do another racing around in the mid field? surely it's either fight for the championship or retire?

Judging by current form (and a driver is only as good as his current form), Rubens is driving better than he ever has done. If he wants to continue, he is certainly able to.

I think, like Chet said, the prospect of Nico - Button will be amazing to watch. If Brawn produce a good car next season (which I'm sure they will) it could be Nico's championship.

But Barrichello in a Williams will also be extremely interesting. Next season is shaping up to be a thriller!

The 2010 season will be the best since...2009, that being the best since...2008, that being the best since 2007!

12 months ago, i'd have agreed with you. but this season seems to have re-ignited his love of racing. as dave says he's driving about as well as he ever has. I think it has made him want to stick around, regardless of it being in a front running team or not.

It would be great to see Rubens guaranteed a place in F1 for at least another year, and Williams consistently make very driveable cars, which would play to Rubens' strengths. As said already, he's been driving as well as ever this season.
However, it's a shame he'd seemingly be going there to replace Nico, rather than to be Nico's teammate. I think those two would be a very strong driver pairing. Also, Frank and Patrick are known for being harsh on drivers, and their approach might not bring out the best in Rubens.

That are good news for F1 fans and of course, for Williams fans like me. Rubens is probably the best person in the paddock, with experience enough to help the team, and if Williams has a good car for 2010 maybe some regular points and podiums can be the bet he's doing. But I disagree with Hulkemberg, I'd rather Heidfeld moving back to "my" team though ;)

Maybe Trulli could be another option for Williams.

yeah but surely if he moves to williams and goes back to running in the mid-field consistently, his new found flare will die out rather quickly?! surely the flare is only there because he has a chance of winning?

Barrichello's had plenty of buzz going for him until he went to Ferrari, and then it reappeared again when he joined Honda.

The Williams isn't and won't be a winning car next year. It's not stopped Rubens from digging deep previously though (look at 2008 for example, when he rather comfortably had the beating Button).

The knowledge and experience of barrichello will sure help williamsf1 team! and that rookie f1 that iscurrent gp2 2009 champion nico hulkenburg. afterall test-days are limited.

Yes, with limited testing as it currently stands, experienced drivers are a valuable commodity. Which is the way it should be! You can't just parachute teenagers in the car any more, you've got to have someone around who knows their stuff. In that respect, Rubens is one of the most valuable free agents currently on the market.

Thanks to power steering and the great physical regimens the drivers can hang around until they're near 40 and probably easily cross that barrier (Y).

Williams is great team and has had great cars, winning cars even with limited resources... they can bounce back anytime
is true, this is probably the longest they've been in F1 without good resutls, but i think they've had good cars just poor engines and i can see them at the front again, thou i'm sure they'll need a good engine

i think that with Rosberg they lost that filosophy of asking the drivers more than what they give if you know what i mean, hopefully if Rosberg leaves they don't go back to it

I think that claiming that Williams "can bounce back anytime2 is a bit naive. It's a different world out there nowadays to the one in which Williams won their Championships.

Maybe so, but with the cost cutting in the next few years, this should help them in relation to the big-spending teams that have been ahead of them in the last 5 years.

Judging by Rosbergs best lap time in part 2 of qualifying at Singapore, Williams still has some life in it.
