I realise that this probably isn't the first of these threads but hey, it's Christmas and it's a good time to be lazy :)

I'm currently reading this:

When i've finished that, i've got this waiting for me:

There's a chance that after that i'll take a look at this (but I don't know, i don't like him. Is the book good?)

What other books are good?

No, it's Christmas, so schools are closed, so you are at home all day which means you can search for that thread! ;)

Gives brief reports and interviews on pretty much all of the major events of the years 1950-2001. Not very in depth, but it's been very good reference, plus you find out lots of facts, opinions and happenings that you never knew about. Some great photos, too.

Intersting read to find out in more detail how and why an F1 car works, but it might be out of date for next season!

I've got the schumacher book and its pretty interesting the way they show the inside view of what happened in Schumi's career and the famous 06 charade. Hamilton, I wouldn't recommend as its a total waste of money. Let him go into the sport for 10 yrs or so and if he achieves a bit more and then buy his "biography" otherwise ITV have mostly shown us the whole lifestory

The Mechanic's Tale - Steve Matchett
Life at the Limit - Prof Sid Watkins

Both brilliant.

The Sid Watkins books are excellent, that one particularly, as is Perry McCarthy's (Dead Stig) Flat Out, Flat Broke, if you prefer to look back at what the sport used to be like before money became the only consideration, rather than the primary one.

Seconded.

Martin Brundle's book Working The Wheel I can recommend too.

Everyone knows that million-to-one chances happen 9 times out of 10; indeed, it's a common requirement in fairy tales. If the human didn't have to overcome huge odds, what would be the point? Terry Pratchett - The Science Of Discworld

GPGSL S5 Race driver for IED.

+1.

If it´s allowed, can I recommend this book (it´s not an autobiograhy or anything, but it´s still brilliant.

Murray Walkers Formula 1 Heroes. Great book, old Murray has a great way of describing things, but this time not with a Microphone in his hand, but a pen.

There is any book of Niki Lauda somewhere?

Forgot about this. I also say that it's a great book. It's like a cross between describing the life and drives of a career and a Brundle biography, with a bucketload of interesting material.

Indeed, i really enjoyed that one.

Am gonna get that 'Crashed & Byrned' one too, looks good.

Similar to Sid Watkins books is 'Rapid Response' by Dr Steve Olvey (ex CART doctor). Some fascinating, yet truly harrowing accounts in there.

I have his autobiography from 20 years ago. Its what you'd expect from an arrogant, self centered man.

Alain Prost "Competition Driving" is an excellent book on racing tactics and strategy.

Nikki Lauda "The Art and Science of Grand Prix Driving" also a good read. Interesting tactical book with good inside info on how to set up the Ferrari 312T. A lot more involved in those days it seems.

"James Hunt" by Gerald Donalson. Good bio on the original wildman.

Martin Brundle "Working The Wheel". Brundle describes his favorite circuits and relates some of his racing experiences on the same. I found particularly interesting his story of driving at 200+ mph along the Mulsanne straight of Le Mans at night and enocountering bits and pieces of his teammates destroyed car...

"There are some pikeys there at Turn 10 putting tarmac down - what do you think of that?" - Martin Brundle
