Well Jonathon Legard as commentator, is a superb idea i've long said he's the guy to do it, always thought that from the time i listened to 5 live back in 2000 when itv didnt show the race on itv 1, and i had to listen to it on there, so i'm very happy with that, Jake Humpries is a joke but as long as Brundle's kept i dont mind.

So long as they show qualifying live. And limit pre-race build up to 15 mins on Sat and 30 mins on Sunday. Plus show it HD and drop the pointless "marketing" sections (Trulli-vineyard etc) I'll be relatively happy. I also want LESS Lewis coverage! And intelligent analysis.

Too Much? LOL

Fantastic, apart from Jake Humphreys, what a shame they ruined it at the end there

F1's governing body is reportedly not happy about the continuing commentating career of former driver Martin Brundle.

It is widely expected that the popular 49-year-old, who currently occupies the ITV commentary box, is set to switch over to the BBC from next year as the sport's broadcasting rights in Britain change hands.

But despite winning six Royal Television Society Awards for his role, Brundle is not popular among FIA figures.

The Briton revealed last year he has been the subject of the Paris body's complaints to ITV that his 'commentary is not up to standard.'

So the only guy in the ITV team who seems to be willing to stand upto the FIA and take the questions everyones asking too the FIA ain't popular with them... shocker ;) I hope the BBC do the same as they do with Top Gear complaints and just bin em :D

Wha..?

Anyway. The FIA are increasingly proving themselves to be populated by imbeciles. I'm sure the BBC understand this more than most. IMHO the only opinion they will be concerned about is from the man paying them, Mr. Ecclestone. And he loves Brundle.

May I point out.... that Mr Ecclestone isn't paying the BBC anything. Indeed the BBC will be paying him via FOM for the rights to cover F1.

i think Locke Cole is right but has badly worded it.

He means that the BBC pay Bernie. (Who likes MB) And then Bernie pays the FIA for managing/running F1

Oh Bernie has a soft spot for Brundle certainly... but he's not going to lose any sleep if Brundle doesn't get to commentate for the beeb.

It was the end of a long day which included parents' evening, my wording was rather poor. ;)

But yes. Basically the BBC won't care about the FIA's opinion of Brundle, so long as he's popular with the fans and with the man who signs the contract for their broadcasting rights.
