It won't be Toyota, I thougt Trulli and Glock were already confirmed for 2009?

Would be a shame if Heidfeld has to leave, but on the other hand, his qualifying problems still don't seem to be resolved (yes he was 5th in Spa, but after Silverstone we thought he found the problem but then look at Budapest and Valencia...). Heidfeld is a great driver but not good enough for a top team like BMW.

A line-up Alonso-Kubica would be awesome.

Heidfeld is doing better job than defending champion and Ferrari is just offering more support to this person. BMW have really weird logic even I did 100% agree about getting rid of Villeneuve. Both current drivers are able to win races (even championship) after team improves car atleast bit.

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

According to the latest rumours from Monza paddock : Alonso to replace Kubica at BMW! Heidfeld will keep his seat.According to the rumour Heidfeld has a contract for next year and it would cost to much for BMW to break it.

that would be awful. i would almost take kubica rather than alonso, as he is established in the team and they can already make a car that suits him.

alonso should just stay at renault for one more year (who knows, they might be good next year with the new rules), and then probably go to BMW unless Heidfeld lifts his game even further

Doesnt look so awful when you see that Kubica has been moaning about BMW giving more attention to Heidfeld lately.

Kubica along with Alonso is probably the most wanted F1 driver right now. Teams will jump at him with bags of cash.

I think Kubica has a contract with BMW for next year. Are BWM going to break it? Would it cost less than Heidfeld's?

Robert is out of contract ;-)

BMW motorsport boss Mario Theissen has denied rumours at Monza that the German team is set to announce its 2009 driver line-up the day after Sunday's Italian Grand Prix.

"There is no announcement on Monday - and not on Tuesday," he is quoted as saying by German broadcaster RTL, amid speculation that former double world champion Fernando Alonso has signed a three-year contract.

The situation at BMW Sauber is rather hazy with Nick Heidfeld seemingly under contract but could well leave at the end of the season despite this.
Robert Kubica is out of contract, but almost certainly has re-signed despite comments to the contrary at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Theissen added: "A decision has not yet been made."

Apparently, Alonso is going to stay at Renault for 2009. I'm not sure how reliably the source is but argues that BMW does not offer him a flexible contract.

I think Alonso was pretty clear about staying at Renault when interviewed last weekend. Can't remember exactly what he said, but remember it seemed fairly clear he'd not agreed anything with any other team at that point - there was little to suggest he'd even been talking to anyone (though you have to assume he must have been talking to at least 1 team).

It was all dependant on the engine side, if renault are allowed to catch up to the others he will stay.

I don't understand, you mean if Renault got green light from the FIA to improve the engine under the freeze-regulations?

It's not a case of being allowed to. They have to exploit the same avenues that some other engine manufacturers (at least Ferrari, Mercedes and BMW and probably Toyota too) have taken. Renault and probably Honda have lagged behind this year.

Sorry I thought they were trying to get permission to catch up to the others?

BMW Sauber wouldn't release Kubica in favour of Alonso purely to save money on breaking Nick's contract. They just wouldn't. With the amount of money that is thrown around F1 in the manufacturer teams nowadays, they could easily spare some severance pay. No-one in their right minds would let Robert walk out of a team for free, with the form he's in at the moment.

I had read that BMW were growing annoyed with Kubica's reluctance to commit long term to the team, and so if Alonso was agreeable to a long term contract, they may view it as an improvement

it will be kubica on a one year term, and heidfeld on a 2 year term because he is german, and his last couple of qualifying and races will be used to argue that he is in good enough form to continue in bmw. but i think bmw should abandon the nationality issue and just sign alonso with kubica.
bmw since re-entering f1 in 2000 has had ralf schumacher 2000-2004, and heidfeld 2005-2008, and i dont think it will change, there is something going on at the top of bmw, and they want a german champion when their car is good enough to be champions.

How about both Kubica and Alonso at Renault next year.
