good idea, gp2 has been very successful in developing drivers for F1, and i can see F2 playing an important role too. i'm sure the FIA would like some teams to go from GP2/F2 to F1 as well though, not just drivers.

I dont see this working. I think this is just political manouevering on behalf of the FIA.

I wonder if any rich F1 teams would try and get an F2 team to test their F1 prospects in? Ferrari, McLaren, BMW etc could probably afford it and would love to have a chance to test their future F1 drivers surely?

this is so dumb, they already have an F2 series, its called GP2. if its gonna cost less then gp2, the cars are probably crappier, possibly crappier then F3, so they should just call this Formula four. it seems a political move, and its hard to understand why they are doing this. id think drivers would still aim for gp2 over this, gp2 is pretty highly regarded now.

We don't need that kind of rubbish.

this is never never ever gonna happen, there is no way they can do a season of international racing on 200,000 euros?! GP2 is into the million figures for a top drive, even F3 costs half a million. So how do the FIA expect this to happen? "pipe dream"

I agree we don't really need it. What we do need is the GP2 cars to go back to how they were in 2005.

I'm not sure (realy it doesn't bother me) will it be GP2, F2, GPx, ...whatever.
What I want to see in one (of) F1 feeder serie(s) atleast 2 chassis and 3 engines. I realy don't like idea that one of elite series are single-spec series, it kill competition! About A1GP it is OK, but today is definitly too much single-spec series. Now just to turn F1 into single-spec and what we will have???
It would be nice that F1 teams have theirs 'Junior Teams' in feeder series or some other direct impact, not just taking drivers from it.

@ Stipe: The idea of a feeder series is to see who's the best. Then F1 teams can choose the right drivers. That's all a feeder series is needed for.

GP2 isn't perfect either though. I don't like the reverse grid for instance. Another feeder series could add some competition and make that go away.

Would F2 be a spec series ?

If not then it would be a great proving ground for many more engineers and people aswell as drivers.

i was just expressing a view, which other people seem to share, perhaps more important then me, as in above link, and yet you call it "rubbish"

if your a moderator, you should resign, cos you obviuosly dont see what is going on with the introduction of this new series, and you cant accept peoples opinion, yes you MarcLister
