Having 2 Latin drivers with the potential to win inside the team definitely doesn't sound in the best interest of Ferrari. Williams lost in 86, McLaren lost in 2007... maybe Alonso and Massa in the same team they could work on their issues , who knows.

Move along please, nothing to see here. The "silly season" has started ALREADY with the most outrageous suggestion, but I cannot see Alonso joining Ferrari alongside either Raikkonen or Massa, Alonso needs the team built around him which is what Renault have done, and Massa's looking for strong results to boost his WDC challenge this year, which is far and away better than it was last year!

Fisichella's shown that Sutil isn't good enough in normal conditions. He's a cracking wet weather driver - possibly even the best out there given recent the past year - he's just not capable of driving well enough in the dry.

Still, he might end up being a Diniz - stick him in a better car and all of a sudden he's capable of running not that far off the best. On first view he's certainly got more a chance to shine than Diniz did.

Diniz, I can't remember when he was ever in a good car, and moreover, when he did well. I remember Spa '97 when he outqualified Hill and was running third in the wet, if that's what you mean, but apart from that..

I meant when he went to Ligier and then Sauber - he improved dramatically over what he was like at Forti. He wasn't memorable in any sense - just sort of average - but he responded very well to the better equipment.

Comparing him to 'the best' was a little over the top, but you know what I mean - he wasn't embarrassed at any team after leaving Forti, and many before and after him have been, most of which you would expect to have been better than Diniz. I was thinking of him vs Alesi (of course Alesi was in the tail of his career, but still a potent driver) more than Hill though - he certainly kept Hill honest over the majority of the season.

Not being funny though what team mate did not keep Hill honest?

Damon usually had good team mates.

Speaking of Diniz, my understanding is that he holds a dubious distinction of competing in F1 without ever having won a race.

Yes DH did mainly have good team mates and he showed well against Prost.

I just never thought he deserved the good drive that he had but I guess he did earn it and was made team leader before he was really ready.

I just think he blew the 1995 world championship with silly errors in the best car.

Anyway sorry i took it off topic.

As do many supposedly better drivers.
Verstappen, Salo, Wurz all spring to mind from that era, when they arguably had better cars than him for a period at least.

Diniz (99 GPs) is still way behind Andrea de Cesaris (208 GPs without winning).

I think TripleM is saying that Diniz CAME INTO F1 without having won a race in any of his prior racing series.
