You're saying they wouldn't want to swap either for Alonso? :P

As much as I'd love to see Alonso in something other other than the big 3 teams (just to see exactly what he's made of and how much he's changed since 2001), I can't see him anywhere other than McLaren or Renault next season.

wont be rosberg- ron cant buy him out but frank would have sold him
wont be ralf schumacher - obviously
might be sutil- but he looks majorly error prone
wont be heildfeld- ron passed on him in 2002 when he took kimi
WONT be de la rosa- the muppet directly named ferrari in the emails the muppet
could be paffet test driver- but 2 british drivers limits marketing ability
wont be button - ron wont want bad contract press
so i think flavio wants fernando more than he wants hekki.

I like Rosberg or Sutil for McLaren. They are germans and fast. Maybe Ralf Schumacher, he could give some experience

McLaren have loads of experience themselves, they don't need drivers for that anymore. Ralf Schumacher is just not going to McLaren, not now, not next year, never.

Is that the reason why Hamilton's gone off form since Alonso stopped sharing his setup data around mid-season? ;-)

Assuming (being the mother of all...) Alonso leaves and takes DLR with him (to Renault)

Whise out of contract at the end of this year?
Massa? (Improbable)
Fisi (Wrong Passport and slow)
Davidson? (dont need two Brits or more accurately 2 relative newbies)
Wurz? (Slow)
Ralf? (Slow)
Jarno? (as Fisi)
Paffett (No F1 experience)

Whose apparently re-signed but could be arranged out if Ron wanted? (would need to be a freebie given the fine)

DC? (has maintained pleasantries in the press during Spygate but more likely to be hoping Newey pulls something out of his ahem soon)
Button (unlikely)
Nico (ditto)
Heidfield (Had MB links but now very definetly BMW)
Robert (not daft enough to piss off BMW)
Webber? (Not really McLaren and managed by FB)

Should Ron become Insane in the near future :-)

Monty?
Villeneuve?
Mansell (Ok thats a piss take)
Rossi?
Loeb even?

The more I see it, the more I think that Fernando will stay at McLaren simply because Ron has no other options. Hes unlikely to take another punt on a rookie. Lewis wasnt really that much of a risk compared to a Piquet or even a Bruno. Theres been (as Flavio said the other day) no real stunner in GP2. They wont look at Cart/IRL or RWS.

Maybe Fernando has considered all this before...

You mean he wants to get rid of fisi and retain Heikki. What about piquet jr waiting in the wings @ renault?

FA may not GAS, but hes still under contract for 08. Santader and the other sprinkling of Spanish sponsers wont be happy if he's not there. Given Ron has no obvious alternatives, and even with the events of recent months he may well not let FA out of his contract without a massive (financial) fight.

well alonso was very smart when signed his contract..
he has a clause in the contract that allows him to leave without being considered contract in addition if some type of “constaint” to happen or if the team dont get any point in his first year as mclaren pilot, the first part that says about the constaints is very vacant and its about interpretation but in what it says about to the points this is fact and as mclaren is with 0 points he doesnt need to give any kind of financial compensation to ron

I think McLaren will pay Williams for Rosberg, Piquet jnr and Alonso at Renault, and Kovalainen sent to Williams and back to Renault if Piquet jnr doesn't perform. And back to what marcl wrote, Renault have a good engine because everyone is using the same as last years engines with the engine freeze, its the chassis thats making it look bad so the engines still good the chassis makes the whole package look bad.

Looking at him now I doubt he'd fit in any F1 car. :P
