Klien weighs up Champ Car, DTM

Axed Red Bull Racing driver Christian Klien has been given two weeks to accept the energy drink company's offer of a drive in another race category.

According to reports in the Austrian Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper, the 23-year-old can choose between America's open-wheeler Champ Car series, or the premier touring car category in Germany, DTM.

''He has at the most fourteen days to consider our offer,'' Red Bull's motor sport consultant Helmut Marko said.

''A return to Formula One is open to him, but only is he makes it in Champ Car.''

Marko justified Red Bull's decision to dump the Austrian youngster by explaining that he simply 'did not develop' sufficiently after his first season or two on the Grand Prix grid.


Klien will be replaced at the end of the year by Australia's Mark Webber.

''He did not beat David Coulthard,'' said Helmut Marko, who contested ten Grand Prix in the early seventies. ''Not in practice runs or in races.''

Somehow in the last 18 months i've been getting the impression that RB wanted too much from Klien.

I think he's given DC a good run for his money, lest we forget that when he retired in Monaco he was infront of DC.

Webber is probably the better choice to have in that car, but I'd agree that they seem to expect far too much from Klien.

Its not the full story obviously, points system never tells you the full story, but thats pretty one sided

Webbers a better choice anyway...

klein has done a good job, when ever he got in the car over winter it broke

he has broken down a number of times this year when in the points.

he is not the best drivers in the world but he is better than some in f1.

can Klein hate webber more,his was totally beatin by him in 2004.
and now Webber is the one to take his seat.

Klien is way better then some of those drivers out there... But he has no support other then Red Bull so he hasn't got much of a chance to get another seat out there. Which is a shame...

Webber's better than Klien, so you can't blame Red Bull for going for Webber....

But I think Klien deserves his place in F1 more than some other drives, would be a shame to see him go to the evilness that is Champ Car.
