Silly BMW wings banned

If the FIA banned the wings for being ugly and not for being unsafe, it's killing the team's right to create and try new things.
I know they looked hideous, but they were working for them. Formula 1 is about the most advanced and sophisticated cars on earth and not the nicest, best looking.

It was just one of the reasons.

Another reason is safety issues. In an accident, those sauber "ears" infront of the driver could hit his helmet or something like that. And was also said that those "ears" were a problem for the drivers to see what is going on in front of them.

It's crap if you ask me. Anytime a team has a new idea the FIA takes a crap on it. More than likely they outlawed these because Bernie hates the way they look, not because of any potential danger they might have posed...

Half the world hates the way they look. F1 cars dont need to be hit by the ugly stick.

Because they were ugly? C'mon, grow up.

IMO it's one of the best looking cars on the grid. And the so-called "horns" suit it very well.

A front wing can hit your helmet too. So should they ban them too?

They aren't. Appearently nobody from the FIA has sit in the car. Just put your hand like that in front of your head, about 30 cm away. You can clearly see they aren't a problem for drivers to see.

what's Bernie got to do with it? he doesn't make the rules, he's not the president of the FIA.

Exactly, how will the cars ever develop (Significantly) without people trying new and interesting ideas. on the other hand, i do accept that the driver vision thing is quite serious

Another odd descision for an odd reason.

BMW dont seem bothered by it though so.

I personally liked them, but there we go.

Actually, If we go by Kubica's comments on the car with those things, I think there wasn't a significant progress, but there wasn't a dropdown on performance either, so why not use it?

Are you serious? Wasn't it Bernie that had the "tower wings" outlawed in late 90's F1 because he didn't like the way they looked on TV? And isn't Max Bernie's man?

Look what BMW brought to Hockenheim:

Why would they bring them if they know they can't drive with them?

Now you say it, yes they look indeed shorter. But whether Nick crash or not, they won't use those things anyway so why bring them? :P

Because they're lazy and cba to unload them back at the factory ;)

Probably sell them to honda for @#$%& prices, then Honda get banned for two races for using them :)
