yep Mercedes is the biggest problem for McLaren ,there is not enough power in it but hopefully new engine will be more powerfull because like Kimi said car feels great like last year but engine is crap like it was before 2005.

yep Mercedes is crap. and seems like that Kimi's is the only one in the team that is brave enough to admit it.

How do you know? Mclaren are the one at the end of the day who implement the engine. Mercedes just delivers it. Just looking for another viewpoint here because its a pretty big accusation to say Mercedes is the root of all the team's failures :P

Yeah that's a very valid point. I remember in 2003 that Sauber's Ferrari engines tended to fail quite often despite the fact they were clearly one of the most reliable engines in the back of the Ferrari. The implementation of an engine can greatly affect it's performance and reliablility.

well the problem now isn't that they aren't reliable enough the problem is that mercedes-engines are too weak compared to rivals.

there are examples of cars losing up to 30 hp from the dyno figures due to poor engine integration and chassis design(F310 for one)

i don't know if this is the case here, but you can't compare engines alone without the cars

If anyone of you have stored somewhere the preseason test results of the last year will be easy to compare with the final standings of the championship... For sure I remeber that every newspaper here in Italy was really worried about the fact that Ferrari was never fast... and I remeber that both Reanult and Mclaren were very fast.

i remember pre season 2004 BAR were amazing and always top.

and in the season they were always top in testing... which ended up being 2nd in constructors.

pre 2005 they cudnt get near the top at all.. ended in a crap season for them.

this year they seem to be back where they were.

2004 Ferrari looked to be very slow until couple of weeks before the season started they were over a second faster than anyone else .so there is still time for McLaren (and Mercedes) to come back and find the speed .

Ferrari wasn't very slow at any point during early 2004.Check the test times.

its because they never tested with the other teams. or not much ;-)

for the very reason that they knew they were quick.

as soon as they went to Imola with most of the teams they just ripped up the track lol.

they *appeared* to suddenly become good for 2004 mainly due to their switch to Michelins. a lot of insiders reckon the 2003 BAR was very good, chassis and engine, but they were held back by the tyres, but once they switched to Michelin, the natural progress of the car, added to the better tyres (compared to the BS' they used in 2003, tailored mainly for Ferrari) catapulted them into a deceivingly better season than they looked to have judging from 2003 form, plus the poor form of Williams and McLaren compounded it.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

yea i remember reading the article in F1racing..

if the BAR 005 is quicker than the 17D?

interesting, but frustrating to know that JB would have alot more podiums, points and possible a win or 2.

The BAR 005 was good. At Monaco it was immense! Just a shame he crashed. i would have said he would have been on the podium that race.
