Are we going to face a Drink war?

It will be an interesting livery.

The world's most famous soft-drink company, Coca-Cola, is planning to drive onto the F1 grid. The British 'Daily Telegraph' newspaper even claimed that Coke, like fizzy rival Red Bull, could buy a grand prix team -- but the more likely option is a title sponsorship.

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone 'confirmed' that Coca-Cola had shown some interest in the sport, the newspaper wrote. "F1 has become an exceptional shop window for everybody," the 74-year-old said.

The report doubted that Coca-Cola had yet held talks with any team, but an executive 'with links' to the company revealed: "The growing popularity of F1 in several key Asian markets is something that is of interest."

Probably at the front of the queue for Coca-Cola's business is Williams, the front line Grove based team that is determined to recover from the recent loss of works BMW power and title sponsor HP.

William's still have Budweiser dont they? So either Williams lose another sponsor or we have two drinks companies on one car.

I imagine the Coco Cola sponsership will be a little more substantial than on the tub & race gloves like we've seen with Bud.

Coca Cola like other companies. Have an Anti-Tobacco clause. So as long as there is Marlboro in F1 they wont join up.

Adn given that Philip Morris have extended their Ferrari deal till 2011. It'll be a long time before Frank can sell to them.

Grandprix.com is just sour that sir Frank doesn't find the idea of a breakaway series that attractive.

I remember Coca Cola sponsored cars racing Gauloises sponsored cars in F3000 not that long ago.

Joe Saward has been plonked again, lol.

As usual.

I am tempted to see how grandprix.com backpeddles their way out of this one.

so ferrari are ruining it for everyone (again) by keeping tobacco in F1, blocking other companies from sponsoring teams. :(

I didn't find a source for McDonalds in english, linking the Brazillian site Grande Premio won't help here. :P

Anyway, they want to sponsor Valentino Rossi whatever he goes, but if he goes to F1 they said they will have a bigger budget.

Don't know if it's true...

Ferrari still has the deal but it won't say anything in the car, it's just keeping the same colors and scheme so people will remember the cigarettes ;-)

Or Powerade, as they are a Coca-Cola brand.....

Edit: FYI, McLaren did have two beverage brands on their racing suits, Warsteiner and Schweppes.

In come the manufacturers, closely followed by the corporations!

... Then, way at the back, *gasp!* It's a privateer...
