I just wanned to open thid topic, cause makes me so proud to hear good things when it comes to Colombia, not when people talks about drugs and guerilla:

"...I planned out Saturday with one thing in mind. Lure Dad into the Columbian cheering section for qualifying. And I did.

We had a blast sitting with the Montoya fans. Even American football games, don

I agree with you there. I was at Spa in 2001, and the Columbian fans there were something extrodinary. There were plenty of Dutch fans supporting Jos The Boss, but they just seemed to be more interested in getting drunk, and were very quiet (despite their huge numbers), where as the JPM Fans were LOUD, and for such a small group. And like Calimbo said, I was drawn into it. The fact that JPM is my fave driver plays no part in that though :-)

Due to the voting system in Germany, Governments are always made up of coalitions of different parties. At the last election, an almost unprecidented result saw the CDU/CSU (rough equivilant of the Conservatives) go into Government with the SPD (rough equivilant of Labour)

The same thing happens every year in Interlagos at "Sector A", right in front of the pit entry, and "Sector B", the covered stand in front of the grid.
But the Brazilian crowd at "Sector G" (opposite straight) is just mad. Much more than the Colombians ;) Of course I was there last year ;)

Colombia in Spanish I belive.
Columbia is the English spelling.

It's a bit like me telling french people that my country is England, not Angleterre.

And Brazil and Brasil.

SuperSonic, yes, once I stayed in sector A, but G is much better. The people, the view, and the PRICE!!!

I go to Brazilian GP since 1997.

Let's hope to have a great race this season.

In 2002, if you have it recorded, they show the crowd waving to Barrichello in a replay, I was the long hair guy wearing a yelllow Senna's shirt with my right arm raied, on my left is my father with his shirt on his head and my brother (also long haired) wearing black. Then when they get back to the action it shows Rubens Barrichello going slow and stoping. I think I bring bad luck. hehehehe...
You don't know how much I laught when I watched the race tape and I saw it.

Sector G is just awesome. We can´t see only the entrance of Laranjinha (where Schumacher crashed last year) because of a damn VIP stand and part of the main straight because of the pit biulding, of course. But we can see the S, Curva do Sol, all the opposite straight, ALL the infield (except the point above) and also the uphill after Junção. Awesome. And all the old track layout too, or what remains of it. The Sector G is built every year on the insane "Retão", a downhill straight to Curva 3, a banked one, like Curva 1 e 2... ah... :)

lol, I don't have it recorded. What an history ;)
But I don't support Rubens, I don't care about him.

Well, I think I must apologise to Sega, as I am sure that he's uspet that I spelt it wrong.

But then, as Zyklef said, maybe we spell it that way in the UK. I'll have to check.

But in summary, once again, I apologise...Sorry!

But they are still some of the best fans in the sport - such passion!!!

in Spanish: Colombia
in English: Colombia
in French: Colombie
in German: Kolumbien

as you can see, "Columbia" it's wrong even in english.

(They have a "British Columbia" in USA, but that's different)

americans says frequently "Columbia" even they say that word to refer to some southern country where the capitol cities r in the middle of nowhere with dirt roads, jackasses instead of rapid transits, no power, no water unless the rain one, no communication & ppl killing themselves with heaps & heaps of AK-47's because the "Columbians" doesnt know a thing about civilized life, about "american" life style, every "Columbian" has a marijuana/cocaine crop in their backyards, every "Columbian" handles perfectly a AK-47... but obviously thats false & i dun wanna go thorough coz this is a f1 forum ;)

but just remember Columbia isnt Colombia. Columbia is the underunderunderdeveloped version of Colombia mainly created, raised & sold by Hollywood to the entire world. & almost all the latinamerican countries r as cheerful as colombia. but colombia is one of the most like brazil, mexico, argentina (just take a look on argentinian football matches).. the rest r either the "european countries of latinamerica" (coz they have very dutch-like, german-like, french-like crowds with the behaviors montana_uk said) or the Columbian countries of latinamerica (countries not mentioned ;))

Nigel Senna
p.d. in the dictionaries Columbia (in english) means "Columbus' land or belonging" but hollywood dictionary has some meaning differences always excused by their famous sentence "Any likeness with real things, places, names or beings are coincidential" huh?? :|

Just note USA doesn't like F1 (since 1981)

Hungarian GP, 1997. Last laps just when damon's problems had just begun:
(Louise Goodman has just reported that Damon Hill was on the radio with Tom Walkinshaw)
Murray: "How do they do that, Martin? How does a man talk calmly and especially to his team boss, when Damon in the situation he's in?"
Martin: "Well, you press a little button on the steering wheel and start talking, Murray. There's a little speaker in the front of your crash helmet...";)
(excerpted from the "Brundle's Quote Central")
