Schumacher struggles with TC though - in 94 this showed - in the races when benneton were not cheating and having it he found it hard. Given that he probly has improved though since it's been over decade :D

Chet, what do you mean there? You mean the softer touch of Michael with the pedals?

No team being disadvantaged by the appointment of a single supplier (detailed regulations will be written to ensure this would not be the case)

Don't know about you, but this just screamed "BRIDGESTONE!!!!" at me. The FIA won't choose Michelin as the maker because it would put Ferrari at a disadvantage. But if they choose Bridgestone then everyone will be stuck on the same, weaker, tyre so there will be no disadvantage to the other teams.

Ah but no, cos if they chose Michelin then ferrari would then also be on them so it wouldn't make any difference - they'd just have to design the car a bit more around the other tyre or something.

if Sauber's car was immediately faster, imagine Ferrari's! You can't rule out Pirelli or some other brand, despite Michelin being big in current F1, Goodyear was once dominant and left..

Well there is nothing like putting the cat amongst the pigeons LOL

Good Ol' Max will surely get the world of motor racing talking :)

I doubt if going back to the 1970's with technology is going to be the answer. Despite what it looks like but a driver has NEVER been the only component in winning races and championships, NEVER. Not in the days of Fangio, Clark, Stewart, Lauda, Prost, Senna or Schumacher. The mechanical equipment available to a driver has always counted for more.

Just go wandering down memory lane and see what Mercedes did had have on the road for Fangio or what Lotus and Cosworth brought to the table for Clark.

Formula One has always been about technology. Right now, we have some interesting racing for a change despite a few years of Ferrari-Schumacher dominance. Few years back we had McLaren-Prost/Senna and Williams-Renault.

I dont doubt the manufacturers breakaway is NOW going to happen.

Sure the FIA is focussed on COSTS but just how much costs are in developing new techno to suit and adapt to new rules? Cutting costs is easy, STOP changing the damn rules !!!!!

LOL, IMAGINE a junior formula stick shift in a 2008 Formula One hehehehehe what a joke ............ well at least there is humour in Formula One hehehehehe

erm........ok then.
i was reading pitpass forums and saw this post.

I cant believe you guys, you want more over taking and better racing and I would assume that you dont want any more teams folding due to financial pressure.

Formula one is NOT about being the pinnacle of auto technology, that was CANAM and Group S rally. F1 is the pinnacle of single seat racing. Meaning the best drivers as well as a high level of tech. If you want it to be the pinnacle of technology we may as well have robots in the bloody cars.

With the exception of the no spare car bit I think all these rules will make for a much more interesting series and quite a few of the rules will mean that F1 will need the best drivers in the world to actually get the crasd going at a decent pace.

As for being a single make series well this makes me bloody mad, so the teams will need to have a homogulated ECU, control tyres and gear box, so what, they can make their pissy little V8s however they want. Personally I think they should be able to make the engines in whatever configuration pleases the engineers as long as its the ordered size.

Its about time something was done to make the racing closer and bring the costs down. For once I agree with the FIA. Some of you people sicken me.

Just read the new rules in F1 Racing, this is what we wanted for a long time. Max has finally come around. Slicks, Less bits sticking out of the car, its great. I wonder if this will mean a whole load of people going back to GP2 now from GP3 and GP4? ;)

gp2 runs like the devil on faster machines, its like in fast foward :D

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

I echo every word uttered by that guy on the PitPass forums, finally someone's talking sense about these issues.

Let's just hope the FIA implement everything.

I agree. I know lots of people want the pinnacle of engineering and stuff like that, but you can see that elsewhere. Can't be bothered looking for who said it, but:

Dragsters have better acceleration.
Fighter Jets have better top speeds.
You get more G-Forces in a space shuttle taking off.
Good drivers (and F1 should be the best) don't need driving aids.
Grannies (and Americans) use auto gearboxes.

High downforce means the air is more turbulent and racing is more spread out. What if the downforce continues to increase? The cars will struggle to get within 2 seconds of each other. A focus on mechanical grip gives the designers a new challenge. Obviously they do work on it, but they might spare some time currently to enhance the aero grip, since it can make more significant improvements.

The only thing that might be a concern to me, is no spare car.

Provided the FIA were to find a reliable partner(s) for the standardised parts, then I see no problem there. THe part need not push the performance boundaries, hence reliability issues would be minimal.

Bring on some proper racing I say, and a bit of sideways action too maybe.
