Doornbos out, Montagny in!

Robert Doornbos will not in action on Friday at the European Grand Prix for the Jordan Formula 1 team. The Dutchman is likely to be replaced by French race talent Franck Montagny at the Nürburgring.

Rumours were going round that Doornbos had only paid for his Friday-drive for the first six races and that he had to find the budget to cover the rest of the season. Unfortunately Doornbos wasn't able to find the sponsors to deal with the expensive seat at Jordan. Now Flavio Briatore is bringing Montagny to Jordan to let the Frenchman get more race experience. It is likely that Montagny will even race the Jordan before the end of the season.

The Jordan team didn't want to confirm Doornbos for Friday's practice at the Nurburgring. "We can not confirm that Doornbos will be in the Jordan tomorrow (Friday)," A Jordan spokesperson told F1Racing.net

jordan are just a joke this year they have one of the best engines in f1 and the worst car its such a shame how the team went

Why not Monteiro?

because monteiro is a race-driver and not a test driver!

And I stay with my point: Monteiro is faster than Narain Karthikeyan!

why is Montagny rated so highly looking at his carer on f1-live he aint done that well compared to some other drivers who dont even get a chance in f1.

Karthikeyan has really impressed this season, and is in my opinion a lot more a settled race driver than his team mate Monteiro. The Jordan car is a handful to say the least and I for one would like to see what Karthikeyan could do in a better car. Rookie of the Year?

its 4 - 2 to kartikeyan against monteiro in races and quali i believe so that says it all. Jordan are all bout money same happened with Giorgio Pantano last year and Pantano isnt crap its just that the car is

just the same as well bruni is not crap he is doing well in gp2.

Piquet is the one who is shocking me people who said he was cheating in F3 seem to have a point he is no where in gp2 compared to carrol who he beat

Its actaully 3-3,Monteiro finished in front of Narain,at Bahrain,Barcelona,and Monaco.

Yeah, Narain seemed a bit at sea at Monaco, although his repeated problems and pit stops didn't help.

The same happened with Tiago in the first Gp´s...
All I can say is that being a rookie this year in the Jordan (midland) team,its not an easy job

great point actually piquet has been rubbish but thats for another thread.....
and also Kovalainen is just too good should have won at monaco

Narain's problems in Monaco stemmed from the fact that he lost a lot of Thursday running. I expect him to be a lot more competitive this weekend, but it'll be interesting to see how he compares to Monteiro.

and he was the only driver in the field never to race round the streets of Monaco prior to the Monaco GP 2005, which is a big disadvantage in itself.

euhm, in the Nissan World Series Montagny won almost every race! He was faster than Kovalainen, Bas Leinders, Gene, Monteiro, Karthikeyan,....

and now he may test!?!? Need I say more?? He deserves the 1st place in F1 more than any other rookie!

so far Monteiro beat Narain by 4 tenths on the first practice , let´s see on the next practice sessions

Montagny never raced against Monteiro in the WSN!
So theres no comparision possible.
