I just checked, he never binned the car at all in his debut season, even running at the back of the pack with all those hoodlums about. Remarkable!

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

They had. Plus with Arrows having folded by that point, Frentzen was in a perfect position to sub. I don't remember him doing that well in the race, but hey.

He came 13th. As the car was designed with the smaller Heidfeld and Massa in mind, Frentzen had trouble fitting in the car.

Nice to discuss the past for a while. On another note though, mercedes are just unbelievably pathetic. They entered f1 to actuAlly improve the image of their brand, since the mercedes is known for being prefered and driven mainly by older men/ women with a lot of money. They havent looked fast on the race track at all, though, and actually slip back by every race. Even sauber and williams and force india were ahead of them in the last few races. If that itself is not pathetic enough, once they got the chance to actually do something (schumacher was faster than anyone but but the rbr and button) they wasted it by the most stupid strategy ever. I still cant believe how a car that was so much faster than lets say raikkonen actuAlly finished 15 sec. behind ( thats the appr. gap assuming schuey could drive fast towards the end of the race).

On a related trivia note - can anyone tell me who the last driver to receive a non-suspended ban was? I honestly can't remember the last time it happened.

I'm surprised the stewards haven't already banned Maldonado (particularly for Singapore) as a "precautionary measure" on "safety and entertainment grounds"

lol....... Well... Pastor needs to leave his mark @ Singapore for the newspapers to read "Maldonado was here"

It was Schumi in 1994! For ignoring black flags. He was banned for a couple of races I think.

Mika got one in 1994 as well for the start line crash he caused in Germnay. He got a race ban for Hungry so Alliot raced the car.

He was already on probation from Silverstone

Yuji Ide had his superlicense revoked, does that count?

Wouldn't call that a ban personally - I'd call that crime prevention. Letting that guy anywhere an F1 car was criminal! ;)

nice pic ;)

Although I'd rather he had a problem in Monza practice so he gets banned from Singapore, otherwise they might only get half points.

Anyone else get a laugh out of Jenson pulling up Lazenby on his tactless "You must be relieved" start to the post-race interview? Still think Lazenby is hopeless...

What happened? I don't watch Sky at all, but that sounds like it could be funny ;)

I do, but I turned over before I could be exposed to the dreadful new podium ceremony.

Yeah, that podium cermory needs some work. I like the idea of interviews hosted on the podium because it can work well if done correctly as it does kind of bring a better atmosphere because the drivers are closer to the fans.

But they need to choose better people to do the interview or have a dedicated perso to do it. Because as cool as Jacky Ickx is and as relevant as he is for Belgium it's clear his English isn't quite good enough to conduct those interviews as they just didn't flow.

Having said that.. Didn't he look in great shape? He looks as though he's still racing these things himself.

Oh and need to get rid of that ugly new rig surrounding the rostrum.
