Football was very different but it's not his fault he was ahead of his time, much like Leônidas da Silva, Garrincha, Pelé, Zico, di Stéfano...
Edmundo was a great, great player and still plays at a good level but his temper and off-field way just kill it.

Football was easier when Puskas played? wtf???!?!?
These guys were basically playing with a medicine ball in normal shoes. You try kicking an old-stlye Football in old-style boots and tell me it was easier. Fine, the standard of fitness was probably lower (Stan Matthews basically invented considering diet in Football), but to actually do anything with a ball (especially with the fluency of Puskas) was far harder

Puskas didnt had to face strong and aggresive defenders such as Lucio, Cannavaro, and others who use much more violence than them :P
There are still classic and talented players, but they are suffering with the violence and being much more tight marked by the defenders than the in the old football era... I can see in a vid of 1970's world cup, Pele was rampaging through the field without a single opponent tight marking him while players like Savio and Ronaldinho Gaucho are stopped by defenders with violence during the whole game, or every time they receive the ball.
