The original post was made a long time ago, and I was hoping Trezeguet wouldn't be on the bench and that Zidane would play :p

Group A: 1st Germany, 2nd Ecuador (would have said Poland before)
Group B: 1st England, 2nd Sweden
Group C: 1st Argentina, 2nd Holland
Group D: 1st Portugal, 2nd Mexico (but it'll be close with Angola)
Group E: 1st Italy, 2nd Ghana (This is a realistic prediction, I REALLY want Czech Republic to do well but sadly can't see them beating Italy to get the points they need :()
Group F: 1st Brazil, 2nd Australia
Group G: 1st South Korea, 2nd France (boring group)
Group H: 1st Spain, 2nd Ukraine

SECOND ROUND
-------------

1) Germany vs. Sweden (anyone betting against Germany here...? Didn't think so :))
2) Argentina vs. Mexico / Angola (Argentina to win)
3) England vs. Ecuador (England to win)
4) Portugal vs. Holland (this will be a good one! I reckon Holland though)
5) Italy vs. Australia (hehe. The physical team against the biggest fairies :) Italy to win though)
6) South Korea vs. Ukraine (South Korea!!)
7) Brazil vs. Ghana (Brazil to win, though if Czech Republic DO get throug I'm not so sure...)
8) Spain vs. France (Spain to win)

QUARTER-FINALS
---------------

1) Germany vs. Argentina (OMFG!!!!111 30th June, make sure you're tuned in for that!)
2) Italy vs. South Korea (Mwahaha, a rematch from 4 years ago. Expecting Italy to win this time however)
3) England vs. Holland (oooooooh. I'm still siding with England here)
4) Brazil vs. Spain (OK, Spain to win. Discussion welcome, but I don't see that Brazil have got it this time)

SEMI-FINALS
------------

1) Germany / Argentina vs. Italy (Italy would beat Germany but not Argentina IMHO)
2) England vs. Spain (Time for Spain's customary disappointing early exit from the World Cup)

FINAL
------

Probably Argentina vs. England. No prediction on this one yet :)

No zidane must be on the bench, It doesnt work with Henry in front of him.. normaly henry gets all the balls an makes the Play.., But now zidane does it but Henry is not as good as he is..
He is @ his best when he gets all the bals.:)

Thus far it's been a pretty predictable and un-dramatic competition :( The only "surprise" really is Ghana being so strong and knocking Czech Republic out. France squeezed through, I didn't expect Switzerland to be so strong, but apparently much of the footballing world did.

So, everyone we expect has qualified with the exception of Ghana. Is it time for the upsets yet, I wonder, or will we have some more predictable matches in the second round?

If brazil lose to ghana, gui is never allowed to say they are good, or even mention anything about them or anything brazilian again. Actually, make that if brazil don't win the world cup - as that will probably happen ;)

For the second round we have:

Germany x Sweden - Germany
Argentina x Mexico - Argentina

England x Ecuador - England
Portugal x Holland - Portugal

Italy x Australia - Italy
Switzerland x Ukraine - Ukraine but hoping for Switzerland :p

Brazil x Ghana - Brazil
Spain x France - Spain

I'm picking Portugal because Felipão is much more experienced as a coach and should be able to neutralize Holland better than the other way around. And going with Spain because their starters won't play like the subs did against Saudi Arabia, and they have pace and good touch to manage to score a goal on France, but unless France starts with Trezeguet, which then would make it tougher but maybe the Spanish midfield can hold the French enough so their defense won't have to go against Henry and Trezeguet, two guys who should be able to make it very clear how fragile the Spanish defense can be.

Actually I agree with Gui on this one. ;) The Dutch team are talented but not coherent.
