first time i've seriously watched a Moto GP race and I"m impressed! Toseland did a good job to cling onto the back of Dovi after those sfrong opening laps. Stoner seemed much quicker as the others Rossi especially had tyre wear troubles which is ashame but hopefully the rest of the races on ES can be as exciting.

Thought Toseland should have done a bit better after qualifying. After-all, the engine held him back then too. Still, he did about as much as he could given he was limited to overtaking on the infield. He's not going to be doing Rossi-like lunges every other corner.

Was a good race though - very close, and would have been closer if Rossi hadn't done such a good job of keeping Pedrosa, Dovizioso and Toseland back for as long as he did. Dovizioso was excellent, especially given how poor Honda were save for Pedrosa.

I think we're starting to see just how good Stoner is. Obviously he was excellent last season, but it was harder to judge with Capirossi doing so poorly. Now he's got another young upstart as his team-mate, it's becoming a little more clear-cut. It wasn't just a flash in the pan. Yes, the bike's built around him, but the Yamaha is built around Rossi. You'll not find many dismissing his talent.

We'll have to wait to see if Rossi's made the right choice. No way we can judge the combination on that race.

Daniel, I love the BBC commentary. Just so many like cheap giggles and all so laid back. It's like chatting about the racing to mates in the pub. The only thing I dislike about the Beeb commentary is that they don't really come across as excitable, but after eons with James Allen forcing excitement and passion, it's a relief frankly. That and the new-found ITVness. I can see why some might not like it for the exact same reasons I like it, but that's subjective. It's like Mark Lawrenson when he's co-commentating on the football - you either find him funny or cringe-worthy.

I saw the first 10 laps or so, when stoner got to the lead. didnt know he won until i heard it on the radio. I was happy with that.

Gav, I dont think the Ducati is built around stoner as much as the yamaha around rossi. Stoner only ever got a ride at Ducati because management wanted a cheap rider. and his first season with them was last season. I actualy think stoner just suits the bike more than anything

Having the 3 ducati's run around pretty much last shows how much better Stoner is tho.

Well yer the ducati just seems like a pretty specialised bike to be honest. It's not that the other riders on it are bad, it's just they don't suit it.

The reason the tech 3 team did well in qualy but bad in the race is because michelin qualifiers were better and also they could slightly turn the engine up for qualy, so it was more inline with the pnuematic valve on. However cos of fuel restrictions they needed to turn it back down for the race - and in practise sessions you could see how far back they were anyway, so I don't see why it comes as a surprise that they dropped back.

I didn't really listen to the bbc before but i assumed their commentary would be the same people that do wsb and so not as good. I just find the eurosport commentary more relaxed and clued up. From what i heard on the radio before the race they had toseland on and were like comparing him to hamilton and having a big wank over it all and things. To be honest i'd be offended to be compared to hamilton but that's another story. From that though, I just assumed that's what all the bbc commentary would be in the style of.

In terms of motogp, i'm predicting much the same as last year, though hopefully i'll be wrong, else we're in for a bit of a dull season.

Many people are talking about Toseland and his weak bike, but to me the man of the week, with Lorenzo, was Dovizioso. His bike is a weak one too, and he beated Vale. That was impressive :D

Congratulations to Stoner... the Stoner/Ducati/Bridgestone showed that they are still on top

Anyone see the 125cc race? Scott Redding was impressive - setting a new lap record on a hand me down Aprillia in his first ever race?! Future champ methinks...

Just saw the end of the qualy, and it looked okay. That "bow" by (i forget his name since i'm a n00b to motogp) looked jawdropping. I thought he dropped it until he went back up and did another bow.

You mean Lorenzo? He was mighty impresive today, second pole in a row in his first 2 races, Hamilton looks like a noob compared to him ;)
