The guide for updating Grand Prix 3 to the 2011 Formula 1 World Championship season!!

Posted by ipswich2007
Hi guys I have decided to set up this thread early to have the best chance of a fully conclusive 2011 season for GP3, I am very sorry for not properly maintaining the 2010 thread I'm not really sure why I didn't get to it. Rest assured the 2011 thread will be regularly updated, with all WIP's and completed 2011 stuff, plus files that are relevant to the 2011 F1 season.

This page will be updated with all the files you will need to get your game into the upcoming season. There is a full guide which will explain everything you need to do to make sure you get the most out of your game. Enjoy :)

This is quite similar to that in the GP4 section - to show all work that has been made for GP3, in an attempt to recreate the 2011 Formula 1 season.

This page will have a guide showing what GP3 software to install (I know other threads show this but I thought I'd include a short overview), it will also show all WIP work and finished 2011 F1 work. Including - Carsets, Tracks & Perf Files.

I will also include a small overview of the 2011 Season itself.

So do tell me if you see anything missing from this page, anything wrong with this page, if you would like your work included or taken off of this page, and also if you are currently working on something for GP3 2011.

Enjoy!,

Nathan

What's needed to update GP3 to the 2011 F1 season.

1. Using your original GP3 disc install the game onto your computer. You can buy it from here Amazon UK
2. Download & Install the official GP3 1.13 patch.
3. Download & Copy the Decrypted GP3 V1.13 No CD Patch to your GP3 folder.
4. Download & Install Steven Young's GP3 Edit.
5. Download & Install SDI Game Utilities' GPxPatch 3.93. You can get this from here SDI Site

A quick thing with GP3 Edit - make sure that whenever you create/edit a carset that you remember to set the current Points System: 25,18,15,12,10,8,6,4,2,1 :)

So how to choose just 11 teams out of the 12 competing in the championship?

Well considering the quality of all the cars made for GP3 at the moment you can't leave any out because they all look so good, so the only way to choose would to be either-
1. Leave out the team you hate most :P
Or 2. Pick the 11 best teams in terms of raw pace - of course until Round 1 we won't truly know who this is.

Another big problem for fans of GP3 is the 16 track limitation, especially this season with 20(19) races in the Championship. So how to choose 16 tracks out of 20(19)?

Now this one is really just down to everybodys personal preferences. Although as India is yet to be completed/made for GP3 that is the first one left out at the moment :P

added link for pirelli tyres

added lekos pirellis and his renault 2011 preview livery

added new confirmed drivers and duffys renault 2011 preview cockpit

added massa & alonso pre season helmets

Not confirmed drivers: both Force India and 1 HRT seat so far, Nathan.

Happy racing from Germany !!!

i am aware of that, but
1. i dont want empty spaces,
2. i used the 09 drivers not confirmed at other teams to fill the slots . i.e. force india, at the moment nothing is saying that liuzzi or sutil wont be there.

but ye i jus dnt rele want empty spaces so i filled up with likely candidates. (like the F1 ITV guides used to, if anyone read them :P )

edit - added updated team lotus logo

I think that Liuzzi will lose this seat to Paul DiResta (DTM champion and Mercedes supported) and Bruno Senna will not drive for HRT
(Colin Colles), so let us wait and see, Nathan, it is still some time...
Can´t see the Lotus Renault GP team logo.

Happy racing from Germany !!!

Thank you very much,eosduffy.

Happy racing from Germany !!!

as i said drafi, i dont want empty spaces , so i have predicted based on last years drivers, simple :P

i have updated the LOTUS logo not the RENAULT logo, when i said team lotus i meant team lotus, not proton playing silly buggers.

i will add the renault logo now as i was unaware theirs had changed yet :P

all the best

edit added new renault logo

added paul di resta

some changes today,

updated ferrari chassis name
lotus chassis name
mercedes team name
renault team name
launch schedule

I so agree with this - I have been a Geoff Crammond fan since the early days of F1GP on the amiga and have updated GP3 every year to the current season - despite the obvious limitations now in this game - i.e limited tracks and teams - to get round the track thing - in the past i have created a spreadsheet with all 20 races - kept the score up to the 16 then started the game anew with the other 4 races then added them to the previous 16 - it does give me a full season race score thoogh (on paper at least)
Also there must be some way to change and add in the new GP rules too
I for one shall be doing my utmost to create the 2011 season - What woud be a challenge is to create the entire 2011 season into a downloadable mod BEFORE the 2011 season starts?
Colin
would be possible, but as none has done even the cars yet (besides esoduffys modified 2010 sauber) well be waiting a while :(
