The Curitiba circuit, in the State of Parana in south of Brazil, is a very beautiful and very modern track. Remodalated in 1996, this track A.K.A. Autodromo Raul Boesel. A track with some fast corners, and a difficult "Esse" section. A long straight. This is the 2002 Fedex/CART version.

Weather forecast for Curitiba race weekend

Friday: 20% chance of rain
Saturday: 15% chance of rain
Sunday: 15% chance of rain

this weather datas are taken from a real weather site! So looks like, that we have not so much rain on the first race weekend! :)
That's a great idea, keeping it realistic as possible (Y)

Welcome to the first Free Practice of the new GP3 World Series Season!

Ryan Gault is the first one, who goes out

Lucas Jeha is one of the two brazilian drivers, who will have at this weekend a huge crowd in the back!

Ryan Gault's first lap is a good one! Let's see what the other can make...

The oldest driver in the field, German Hans-Helmut Wiencke, can drive on place 2.

And there comes Daniel Paiva in the black beast! Fastest Time for the portugese driver!

The youngest driver, Andrew Jewitt, can only save the sixth fastest time.

Lucas Jeha can drive into the Top 3.

Dean Kittleson burns a new fastest time into the asphalt.

Viljami Kutvonen drives a weak time.

Daniel Finney is also driving a weak time.

While we see the second brazilian Rodrigo Vilela, Nick Vooght driving a new fastest time.

Paiva isn't able to set a better time.

But Antonis Baltzo has a good chance!

And Yes! The Greek man can catch place 1 !!

Vilela can save place 9.

Nick Vooght on his next run, but a driver in front block him.

He can't overtake the Racing Cats driver not!

So his run is destroyed! Far away from the top 3.

Paulo Silva can make a hugh step! From the last place to the 9th place.

Daniel Finney must have problems with his car. Very bad position for the english F1N Racing driver.

With him also ends the free practice!

Here are the results:

I'm younger by two months.

A respectable result for Falcon, 6th is obviously a nice solid result, 13th isn't so good for Frank but it is still early days.

Excellent driving mr Vooght, lol, and awful stuff from me! Hmm, seems F1N Racing are making a habit at finishing at both ends of the time sheets ;)

Wow... 12th... well, better than performance days...

Rotty, you put wrong team for Alessio Rosa... it's Racing Cats, not One... ;)

I've got some questions about this series.
How are the perfs calculated for each session?
Why don't you post movies of the sessions, so participants can see live sessions, this is what we do for the GP4 WGP/W300 series.

- well, I have already posted it.

1. - 30 performance points
2. - 27 performance points
3. - 24 performance points
4. - 21 performance points
5. - 18 performance points
6. - 15 performance points
7. - 12 performance points
8. - 9 performance points
9. - 6 performance points
10. - 3 performance points
11. 0 performance points
12. 0 performance points
13. + 3 performance points
14. + 6 performance points
15. + 9 performance points
16. + 12 performance points
17. + 15 performance points
18. + 18 performance points
19. + 21 performance points
20. + 24 performance points
21. + 27 performance points
22. + 30 performance points

The driver can only become or lose that points, when he can finish the whole race. When he goes off during the race, he will
become (or lose) nothing!

The maximum, which you can lose or win of performance points are 120.

For example, a driver win 4 races in a row, he lose 120 performance points. When he can score also in the fifth race points,
he lose no perf points.

The same goes for a driver, who are drive four times on place 22. When he can't also in the fifth race no points, he
will have still + 120 performance points.

- To make a video is a lot to do. I see it at the WGP and W300. Sessions will post many days after the regular date. So I decided to post only pictures.

I know. I will fixed that tomorrow when I have upload the qualify session.
The late posting of videos is not because of the workload, usually more to do with the fact that the guys are busy and have lives outside the forums, but yes you are right, it is a big job to do. Still it would be a good idea to make a presentation video for the website if you have one.

I'm not sure how you apply the points won to the performance files. It appears that you subtract 30 performance points for a win and then add them for a loss, which doesn't look quite right to me, but of course you can correct me if I have it wrong. ;-)

The WGP/W300 uses the following formula. 30 points for the win, 25 for second, 20 for third, 19 for fourth down to 1 for 22nd. That way all drivers and teams can earn championship points unless they DNF of course.

The team constructors earn points, the drivers points for each team are added together, the total for each team is divided by four and added to the teams BHP performance, the full points total is subtracted from the failure range. The BHP is capped, 920Q,940R, once a team reaches the cap, only the total points are subtracted from the failure range after each session.

Example for a team:
driver 1 finishes on pole = 30 points
driver 2 finishes 4th = 19 points
total team points = 49
divide by four = 12
12 added to the BHP
49 subtracted from the qualy and race failure range.

(starting perf)
[Team #00]
Name=XXXXXXXXXXX
Performance=780,800,1000
First Driver=21,Driver XXX,16020,600,16050,600
Second Driver=22,DriverYYY,16020,600,16050,600

(end session perf)
[Team #00]
Name=XXXXXXXXXXX
Performance=792,812,951
First Driver=21,Driver XXX,16050,570,16080,570
Second Driver=22,DriverYYY,16039,581,16069,570

After each race, the perfs are adjusted and posted in the thread so the team owners and drivers can readily see their performance value progress throughout the series.
A Championship table for teams and drivers is posted after each session as well.

At the end of the season, a different formula is applied to the teams and drivers performance. Teams and drivers failure range is reset to the starter performance first.

Example:
First Driver=3,xxxxxxxxx,16443,600,16493,600 <-end of season perf
minus starter perf Qualify 16020 = First Driver=3,xxxxxxxxx,423,
Divide by 5 = First Driver=3,xxxxxxxxx,84,
Add to season starter perf = First Driver=3,xxxxxxxxx,16104,
First Driver=3,Josh Rayman,16104,600,16134,600 <-new season starter perf

Constructors Championship points are divided by 22, then added to the season starter perf.

Example:
Team #00 657 total constructor points /22 = 30
add to season starter perf = Performance=810,830,1000 <-new season starter
perf.

What starter performance and BHP cap you would use is dependent on the lap-times and performance values you wish to create, which depends on the type of cars I would think, a physics file could possibly be used as well to fine tune the performance.
I have xl database files that calculate the perfs, they only require insertion of the points after each session, if you'd like to see them for comparison I can send them on.
The formulas shown actually work a treat, it's taken us two seasons to fine-tune them, and there was a lot of submissions from participants in the series. The original design for the series was far different to what we use now and I think is a fair way of points and performance distribution for all of the participants. ;-)

This is not to say how you should be doing your series, but to show all of you how we do the calculations in the GP4 forum, perhaps you can use some of our ideas as they are tested.
Cheers ;-)

Baltzo quickest in first practice
Atlantica Racing and Antonis Baltzo have marked themselves out as the ones to beat in GP3 Series this weekend by recording the best time in Friday's free practice session.

Baltzo was just over one hundredth up on F1N's Nick Vooght in second. Hans-Helmut Wiencke put in his customary strong performance in third for SRS Racing, with Dean Kittleson fourth for McLaren.

The Greek is feeling happy with the set up of the Atlantica car. "It was a lot of fun to drive," Baltzo said. "I love fast circuits so it's been going really well. We have been struggling a lot with the car the last practise, but I think we have a much better set up for Curitiba and it looks like we have a good chance for this weekend. We just need to continue the good work."

Great pictures!

I look forward for the Qualify session...
