After closer inspection by the Ferrari mechanics it appeared that the car really was under 600 Kilos.by turkey_machine - F1
6th June 1988. Really easy to remember, 6/6/88. My brothers is 2nd February. His is 2/2/91. We were convenient babies!by turkey_machine - Off-Topic
Yeah, that's unfortunate. It does need a decent aeriel to receive a decent picture. I'd avoid the cheap boxes personally. Get a box for around £50 new. The hardware is better than it was a year ago.by turkey_machine - F1
Anywhere in America but a street circuit. I don't have much of a problem with the Indy circuit, so long as Michelin don't have the tyre problems again.by turkey_machine - F1
The 2000 car was so reliably bad because EJ ordered that the car be pushed to it's technical limit. The result was the reliability problems that plagued Frentzen's and Trulli's car. Frentzen was nearly in tears when he got his podium at US 2000, because in 1999 he was a championship contender and in 2000 he was nowhere. Mind you, Jordan were nowhere near as bad as Prost in 2000.by turkey_machine - F1
True, but circuit safety has been improved as well. Marshalls on every corner and every straight.by turkey_machine - F1
About £160. Although it was on sale, I think. RRP is about £200. Our particular model, a Sagem ITD64 has an 80 GB hard disk. You can get 160 GB boxes, though I'd guess they're about £300. So a bit like a SKY+ subscription, but like the early freeview ads, "one-off payment, no contract!"by turkey_machine - F1
de la Rosa was the one overshooting turn 1 at Bahrain because he couldn't judge the braking properly. Martin's reaction when he did it the last time was something like "Oh, stop doing that" as if he was telling off a small child or something! Made me laugh!by turkey_machine - F1
Kimi on Fisichella, and Alonso on Schumy. Without question two of the greatest overtaking manoeveures in 2005. I'll never forget James Allen's reaction while Martin Brundle was talking: "Oh my word!" I'm sure he wanted to say something else. I know I did!by turkey_machine - F1
And the crews can change them in the pit stops if necessary.by turkey_machine - F1
Angus Scott did Spa. Mind you, you can't blame him for being a bit dim at that race, it was his first F1 race presenting, he's been doing rallies for the last couple of years. Like Jim was at first. The more you do it, the more you learn and know. I don't have much recollection of Steve Rider presenting Formula 1. Strange really that I paid more attention to it when it was on ITby turkey_machine - F1
Who would you like to see replace him? I wouldn't mind seeing Angus Scott have a go for a season. Jon Desborough gets along just fine at the rallies without him.by turkey_machine - F1
@Muks_C: Freeview boxes that can record TV programs have been around for a while now, almost since the introduction of Freeview. It's only recently that they have been more commercially viable because though DVD recorders are getting cheaper, a built in hard disk is cheaper than getting a DVD recorder and hooking that up to your Freeview box. Also, unless your DVD recorder supports DVD-RAM yby turkey_machine - F1
Ways Formula 1 can be welcomed in the United States Build a dedicated circuit of decent length (about 3 miles) and a decent lap speed (slower than 80 seconds) that does NOT utilise banking, so that the Michelin fiasco doesn't ever happen again. Heck, Hermann Tilke could probably build a decent circuit for decent money that could draw the crowds! Maybe stick an oval around the outside so tby turkey_machine - F1
Hehe, 5 days and complaints aplenty for ITV to milk. I ended up watching the qualy while taping it (don't ask!), set up for the race (which I'm glad I did!) and watched it about 8:30 the following morning. I had to reset my body clock to get up for 5:45 on Monday morning to catch the train to London. Shame they did the same thing for the Shanghai qualifying as well. I'll most liby turkey_machine - F1
Having just checked the Radio Times to find out when qualifying is, I turn to Saturday morning expecting to find a re-run of the qualy from that morning. Turning to Saturday evening / Sunday morning, I find the qualifying is placed there about 11.30pm, around 6 hours before the start of the race. It begs the question. WHY?????by turkey_machine - F1
Quoteeven the 2000 music was better than the current one. Yeah, that's the one I want to hear again. That was the best ITV one IMHO. Though the BBC one with the Fleetwood Mac was good as well.by turkey_machine - F1
Martin made a comment a while back that it's really difficult to say things without repeating yourself after 10 minutes. Given the amount of stuff he knows, I think he does a cracking job! QuoteSorry! Haver you bumped your head recently. Lousie Goodman is terrible! She ain't that bad. Some of the pre-race interviews that she does with the drivers are quite interesting.by turkey_machine - F1
Mercedes announced earlier in the season that they currently have no plans to merge with McLaren. Besides, I think that would be a bad move for McLaren, because they would be under full ownership of Mercedes instead of a separate company as they are now. "might we see williams mercedes one day" Unlikely, given that Williams are using Cosworth engines for next year and maybe the foby turkey_machine - F1
I think that Martin Brundle's the best interviewer of the lot; him and Louise Goodman. I won't forget Martin finding Bernie on the grid at Indianapolis 2005 and interviewing him 10 mins before the race. They were there for about 2 mins and there was a massive crowd of people around the two. Mind you, I'm glad that ITV have sorted the adverts problem out. In 1998 they got their kby turkey_machine - F1
Actually, that's not the case. The diagonal on a rectangle is shorter than the two sides that you are not travelling along. Martin's right in this case, because it would be impractical for a Formula 1 car travelling at 200 mph to suddenly go to the ideal line having travelled straight for 8 seconds. Try it in any racing game and you'll see what I mean.by turkey_machine - F1
I used to do this sorta stuff when I was a wee lad. We had a fairly big car park that doubled up as an alley behind my Grandad's house. I used to take my bike and race around there, weaving around the cars and the garage gaps in the alley, sometimes doing around 150 laps! My record was 20 seconds a lap. We've got a fairly big park that has a path going right around it. At some pointby turkey_machine - F1
RIP. The first I heard about it was Sunday morning, before I went to the Henham Steam Rally. I checked Ceefax to see where the positions were at, and the death of Michael Park stunned me. Tried to set up for the WRC Highlights at 4:30 to see what happened and ended up taping Channel 4 for an hour instead! (Must pay more attention!)by turkey_machine - Off-Topic
Yup. Still can't wait until he actually wins a race. Maybe Barichello will push him further. I think you were right. US GP was 2002 not 2004. That was the year the graphics were different to the standard that had been used throughout the year. Another one springs to mind. Hungaroring 1997. The year it was BAKING hot!! Bridgestone's first year (I think), and Damon Hill qualifies 3rby turkey_machine - F1
I reckon that there could be several retirements, mostly the mid to low teams, though I wouldn't put it past Jenson coming steaming through the field. Though if it's a full wet race, and not an intermediate like Spa, I wouldn't put it past the Ferraris to make a strong showing.by turkey_machine - F1
OK, Coulthard spinning (1995) was at Portugal, not Monza. I have the book, don't argue! He did it at another GP as well, and I can't remember what! Hakkinen at Monza, 1999, was his fault, he downshifted to 1st instead of 2nd. I kinda felt sorry for him crying in the trees though. What about 1999, Hakkinen's left rear wheel falling off at Brooklyns, Silverstone? Trundling backby turkey_machine - F1
Great. At least I know I need a really decent CPU (and a good GPU as well!). I know that most people like to run GP4 with mods etc. All I wanna do is get it running good in the default (2001) season, with the settings cranked up. I did find out that if "environment filtering" is set to "dynamic" it looks so much better, but it kills the CPU.by turkey_machine - Grand Prix 4
Hi guys and girls! This is my first post and I'd like it to be a good one. I'm planning to upgrade my computer significantly at the end of the year to not only run GP4 well, but run some of the latest games as well. Basically it needs a new motherboard, processor, lotsa RAM and a good graphics card. My current system is not brilliant but it gets the job done for most day-to-day tasksby turkey_machine - Grand Prix 4
