Take this doodle as a camera mounted on the nose looking back. Obviously the bottom 3 helmets would be hidden by the car itself, by sidepods and the drivers body, so you would only see one at a time. I would think that would allow you to keep them close enough that the headmovement isn't TOO far off.

Off-Topic I finally read it, and WOA! you are one lucky person. So it was the door jamb that was basically added to the live wire (The part that keeps the door shut). I would ask why is there a wire there? Something about that doesn't add up, as a live wire should be far enough in from the door to facilitate mounting and closing.
