I know I'm late but... is there still room for a test driver? WGP looks incredible!by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4

If the game crashed when you clicked "Drive", the problem is with the circuit's .dat file. If it crashed when loading bar was at the beginning, the problem is with cars.wad file. If it crashed when loading bar was at the middle of the screen, the problem is with the track's .wad file. And if it crashed when loading bar was almost finished, the problem is with anim.wad file. Wasn't used in 91 remember GP1? But could be used as 17th track because Sepang didn't exist back then! And this 92-94 layout wasn't used by F1 either, at the 94 GP the chicane was already there -- information from . Downloading the 88 right now!by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
A 86-91 version? Well, removing Ayrton Senna chicane shouldn't be a problem, because the other part of track is still used by motorcycles. The problem would be the other section of the track which was substituted by Sito Pons. But after I finish this version, if I find enough photos, I'll give it a try. By the way, which three mods? I only know about the 88!by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Looking at some track photos I discovered that MotoGP used a different pit exit this year, which only rejoins the track at turn 1. But I also found this picture below that suggests F1 cars still use the old exit: Does anyone know if this pit exit is really not being used by F1 tests, and do you have more pictures of it? Thanks in advance.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Copying and pasting sector commands or adding commands to multiple sectors would also be useful... I wish there was this feature when I created a whole pitlane and forgot to insert bank description. How we make Lo2k sufferby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Thanks guys! I will not predict when the .dat will be finished, last time I tried to predict when I would finish something I was mistaken by eight days! Lots of eggs, jimbob! Thousands I think, enough to feed all the circuit spectator's... look at the size of that thing! Now imagine the stove they put it on!by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
First screenies... not the way you were expecting, I think... these were taken from 3DEditor, not from inside the game. Why? Because I decided to only (re)insert the track into the game when the physical part is "completely complete"... but these will give an idea of how it should look. First picture of resturant at track! Enzojz, sorry if I offended you, but as I said, I haven't downloaded your McLaren. I used E_Shumi's Ferrari as an example, and I'm sure his car is not the only one that comes only with lod_0. And Zeppelin, that's exactly what I wanted... lower-poly alternative shapes. But the lods come first. See this picture below. I'm driving one Ferrari, and the other one raises theby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
@Lemming - Yes, the lods are different shapes that are changed according to the distance between the camera and the car. @Enzojz - To be honest, I didn't test your McLaren. I reinstalled my GP4 and added E_Shumi Ferrari (Interlagos spec) into my cars.wad and the PO jumped from 70% to 250%. I'm still re-downloading the cars, but if every car has the same poly count as his, this gets aby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
All right, the cars that are being released now look incredible, but they are way too detailed! Some carshapes are bigger than 1 MB, which kills the CPU... now imagine you're at Barcelona main straight, starting second lap, at 11th place with the CPU rendering ten cars ahead of you at lod_0 because the car maker didn't make any other lods. And plus nine (or eleven) cars on your mirror aby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
@Lo2k, the problem is, 3D Editor also crashes when adding textures... just after clicking on the "Add" button. Clearly some problem with the textures, because I imported .tgas from GP4 tracks' wads and they were imported correctly... anyway Laguna said he'd remake the textures. And jimbob1, I'm still thinking about what I have of useful to share!by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Hi again! Ruboy, Ricardo's tracks use different .jip files than the original GP4 ones, that may be because the ID 944 is not Maverick's guide.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Has anyone fixed the bug that crashed the game when pressing Esc? I saw Zeppelin say in another thread that this problem is .bin related. Not that I mind running GP4 in debug mode...by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4

Fixed, but in a weird way. Inside the anim.wad, I used this time two .anm files for spa, one named spa.anm and the other spa2001.anm. Then everything goes fine. So that means the "prefix" GP4Info doesn't work for the .anm file on qualifying. Or then there's a file that refers to spa2001.anm but only at qualifying. Strange, isn't it?by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Sorry to start another "Help!" topic, but this problem is annoying me. I was using a fresh GP4 installation with just the official patch, decrypted GP4.exe and GPxPatch and everything was running fine. Then I did some modifications and the game started to crash every time I try to enter a qualifying session. The game crashes after the loading bar is nearly completed, so I think the probby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Track layout fixed! How did I do it? Yep, started from scratch again, but this time using Google Earth photos. The photos made me notice some things that I couldn't see with track maps. For example, some turns have a variable radius. In my opinion this new layout is much better than the previous, especially by one thing: Previous layout length: 4.449 km New layout length: 4.429 km Realby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Not much news from my side... I'm fixing radius of turns 4, 8 and 14 and elevations of turns 4, 5 and 6... and watching the onboard lap to ensure everything goes right this time. EDIT: These fixes are giving me a headache... I'm beginning to think that starting from scratch again could be easier...by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
I couldn't find a menu image for Doornbos at Minardi anywhere, so I did it myself. It's my first try at making teamart, hope you'll like it. Based on Musta's teamart. Download: Preview:by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Thanks! The CC line is great, really nice to drive! Great job Ruboy!by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Can't download it... server full? Ruboy, can you mail it to me then? I'll send my mail by PM.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
@sunil, have you renamed the .tex files? If yes, this may be why everything turned white. The textures' names are stored inside the .gp4 file, so the .gp4 still refers to the same textures even if you rename it. And if you rename the textures, the .gp4 won't find the ones it's looking for. The way Mr Pibb suggested is much easier and prevents weird things like that.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Thanks a lot! This will help when inserting new tracks. And it means I'll have to modify the .gps to fix my messed track select menu... and I won't have to click on Monza to race at Interlagos!by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
And don't let us forget this "new" building above S/F line: I finally got a onboard lap from a F1 car... now it'll be a lot easier to fix the elevations... should finish them by next week.by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
We're counting on Lo2k again... Question: if we apply "Name" and "Country" fields, will these appear changed at ALL game screens?by Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
Oh damn. There seem to be some more miscalculations that eventually made the 20-meter difference between my track and the real one... I've compared the layout with a Google Earth picture and turn 14 also seems to be wrong... that's what you get from making tracks from maps found in the web . I'll try to fix these turns. However, these errors are not that big, and I'm prettyby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4

Well, at least there are people interested in this track . Sorry for the delay. I messed up the track's .wad and I can't test it anymore, gotta rebuild the file, but I have no time to do it today... neither tomorrow . Anyway, for the ones that have seen the video, what did you think about the elevations and the cc-line? (Yes, that's a cc driving on the video) I was going to postby Prblanco - Grand Prix 4
