Is it possible that the keybind.ini in your gp4_tweak folder is over-riding the keys.ini in your GPxPatch folder? Might be worth a look.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Yes Tom. I use a version of your installation pack, modded to include some of the little things I always end up including like some custom sounds, an f1graphics.cfg tailored for my box, a clean results spreadsheet and some home-brew dash instruments etc. Saves a lot of time and should be the starting point for any user. Thanks. PS: Can't remember if yours does this but one little thing whby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Funnily enough, from my limited testing of BRMin/Max I too ended up with 500 BRMax for one or two cars and sometimes one car up to 1250 (when I really didn't like a certain driver's ability and wanted to make him a laughing stock ). I never liked really BRMin at all though and rarely if ever used it as it always seemed the more artificial looking of the two behaviours. What stoppedby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Just a guess but installing the updated 2001 mod will probably fix both problems.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
OK, thanks René. I realized after I posted my q that it wouldn't make sense to be in the (non-driver specific) MD anyway would it? About BRMin/Max: I still don't see how using two variables (BRMax/Min AND Error Chance) adds much (apart from increasing PF complexity). I'm still yet to play with Error Chance but it strikes me as a very DRIVER-centric variable whereas the absoluteby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Thanks René. My position remains the same. I've yet to spend time with it, but it seems to me that the EC variable is more likely to create the effect desired (by me anyway); that of creating a daring driver who is more likely to mess things up once in a while than the cooler heads on the circuit. Hares and tortoises.... While we're on the topic, I've noticed that sometimes aby Noog - Grand Prix 4

What a crazy circuit. Nice one! I've had trouble loading some of your tracks but this one worked first time. Thanks. PS: I'm sure it wasn't intentional but I love the out-sized zombie-woman in yellow near the start-finish line! Is she single by any chance?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
@ MSchumi24 As an old duffer I only really play the earlier mods (up to mid-90s) but I appreciate the effort you've been putting into sharpening our tools. Thanks.by Noog - Grand Prix 4

Shame about the slimtex, but I guess we can't have it all eh? I had a go with CSM recently (after overriding a couple of the dx9 files in wine) and I got it to go a step further than I had previously, ie I too could load a mod, but each time I clicked the mod's configurables button it crashed (something to do with an inability to display the graphics) - at which point I gave up againby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Nice one. What's the secret Tom? Also, does slimtex work? That would be the most handy for me.by Noog - Grand Prix 4

I had a similar problem with Detroit. After getting nowhere for ages I injected a fresh copy of the DAT file with the magic data from Phoenix - and it worked! At least, it sorted out the sluggishness problem, although I think it introduced some other issues at the same time (such as pit lane entry etc). Give it a try. Ever tried a batch renamer? Some also let you make a copies: copy lod 0 and create lod 1, 2 & 3 etc. Not sure what to recommend - the last one I ever used in Windows was Lupas Rename 2000 but that was a lifetime ago when I had to update the name of thousands of files in one go.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
You've got to be glad those airboxes got banned though - always made me think of hair salons and elderly women with blue hair; then and now. That said, I'm really looking forward to this series of cars. That Ferrari looks fantastic! Nice job.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Not that I know of. But wouldn't it always be easier and quicker to dbl-click a .wad and update or extract the .wad file contents from within Windows anyway? Why would the developer bother making a command line option available?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
@ landex. OK, it's something that happened to me and that was the fix, but that's not your problem it seems. So, what happens when you run easywad.exe?by Noog - Grand Prix 4

Just one minor caveat RHill. I'm not sure if Tom has found this but once or twice (ie not very often at all), I've come across the odd track that I couldn't get to work in a non-standard slot with GPxTrack, but when I did put it back in it's original slot it worked OK. I think I know how to fix that properly now but it's worth bearing in mind if you get a problem gettby Noog - Grand Prix 4

@ landex Hi. Yes, that's what I do too, except as a Linux user I run any new .cuh files through CSM in a virtual WinXP machine with a default GP4 installation, then go back into my native Linux environment and copy everything into a folder on there. Same thing really. I also delete unused bits where I can and especially before I zip the folder up for storage - but a warning to anyone elseby Noog - Grand Prix 4
I agree with TomMK. It's well worth learning how to use GPxTrack. TSM appealed to me the first time I used it (it is a nice idea) but it can be a bit complex to debug when it goes wrong and so GPxPatch is the way I do it now. I remember when I first started it seemed to be a nightmare to get tracks to work however I tried to do it but it's rare I have any problem at all these days.by Noog - Grand Prix 4

Just had a proper blast on this circuit for the first time & as it's been nearly four months since it was released I felt it was well worth a bump in case anyone missed it. It's a high quality and challenging track with some great textures (kerbs, grass, hay bales, light coronas, tarmac repairs etc) and a good CC line. Recommended. Thanks ToJepo. It's hard to be sure but yes, at least I think so. I watched two short races (15%) with a range of values (from 500-3000) applied to about half of the cars cars and I saw a lot of behaviour that seemed to reflect the values (ie the drivers would push harder into corners some of the time, often resulting in a slight overshooting which could have both good and bad results). Since then I'vby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Right now I don't really use BRMin. I had one or two quick goes with it but at, say, 3000 it seemed to make the modded car too prone to being rear-ended so I gave one driver a BRMin value of 500 and let it be. I'm not sure it makes any discernible difference at that level though. Have a play with it yourself.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
@ AustinF1 - Press 8 to toggle the map, 0 to remove the standings (9 to bring them back) @ RHill - Absolutely a game changer. Try the BRMax value as well. My tests so far suggest that while CC errors will always lead to mistakes and a failure to do well; BRMax, which also leads to mistakes, can also work out well for the driver sometimes too, if that makes sense so it's a slightly more eby Noog - Grand Prix 4
