About what I expected from qualifying with the lack of boost, but I'm hoping for something of a mildly chaotic race to help move up the field.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
YES YES YES YES YES! What a weekend! The team gave me the tools for a good result, and I used them fully I think. Obviously a shame for De Bruyker who had me beat hands down on pace, and that is for sure not the way you want to win your first race......but I'll take it. Hopefully the first of many successful races for both myself and the team, and hopefully they can figure out whatby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Excellent fight for pole at the front, starting third is not too bad a result at all. Hopefully this race will allow the true pace of the car to show, after having my previous races hampered by other events.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
If the Snake form carries over into qualifying and the race, it might well go some towards making up for my dismal start to the season.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Team France For sure we are glad to finish in the points for our first race as a returning team, and we improved OK from our qualifying position. We think that if a few more things had gone our way, we could have finished a bit higher. Romain performed quite well considering the pressure we placed him under, and we as a team are proud of what he achieved today. We hope that the difficult weby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Kudos to Romain for his efforts in qualifying. Our strategy as a team puts him under immense pressure this weekend, and he coped fantastically in qualifying to be 14th. If he performs only half as well in the race, we have a good chance at a decent haul of points.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Files with the extension '.mipmaps'? Not entirely sure on that one; thats a format used by Codemasters games isn't it?by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
ARGB8 is the only way to prevent losing your blacks unfortunately. The performance hit from using ARGB8 is, as you've noticed, quite severe, as ARGB8 uses a lot of RAM. One solution might be to resize to 2048x when doing the conversion from .tga to .tex. A 2048x A8R8G8B8 .tex (converted from a 4096x TGA) is about the same size in memory as a 4096x DXT5 .tex (converted from a 4096x TGA), bby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

13th? 13th?! I can dig this, nobody run me off please!by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
My new car in-game. Turned out quite nicely I think. I'm hoping that there is an easy way to control specularity like what what we have with GP4's Alpha Channels, but reading material on texturing seems to be a bit limited. (And yes, I hit the wall just after the second picture was taken)by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Painted it myself in GIMP. The white areas and the logos are placed on the texture like normal but, instead of painting the purple onto the texture, I left the purple areas transparent. In Keyshot - the program I use for rendering - I give the body the purple metallic paint, and then apply the texture as a 'label' over the paint. This allows the purple areas to have the metallic finiby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Thanks Ruben! Nice renders again Iain, where did the helmet model come from? Cadbury Racing skin for the 'RSS Formula Hybrid' Assetto Corsa mod. (Click for HD) I don't think it'll look quite the same in-game unfortunately.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
My saying "It could be worse" is not, I repeat, not to be interpreted as a challenge.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

Thanks to my PC upgrade, I too can now share AC screens!by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
I've had this texture laying around for a while now - hence last years sponsors - but finally got around to properly rendering it today. It also has the honour of being the first scene rendered by my newly built PC, which has already proven itself wonderful for this sort of thing. I also upgraded to Keyshot 6 which allowed me to overcome some limitations I ran into when trying to render thby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Loks like there was some OK race pace in the car, just unfortunate that I was twice the victim of other driver's errors.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
@FabiuZ87 - I don't know why the Google Drive link has stopped working, so I've changed it to Mediafire. @davegp4 Cheersby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

Thanks Marcus. Very nice Iain. The texture on the tyres looks fine, but I'm wondering what material type you're using? I use 'Plastic', add some Roughness, and use a Bump Map. Also, for the rims, (assuming this model came from Assetto Corsa?) the blurring is usually a separate model mesh. Delete that, and it should be OK.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

That is a very fine looking car indeed. Updated and corrected car files for Team France have been sent.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Oh darn, thanks for the reminder. Got caught up in trying to get it done in time. I can have it fixed by this time tomorrow.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Team France checking in. All files have been sent, and tyre supplier chosen. It's a bit bare-bones at the moment, but we're hoping to have more sponsors on-board before too long. shep34 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hence my call to look at a different carshape for > future seasons, or the mapping on this one to be > fixed......by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
