Hi clever people, I'm currently writing a small program to convert TSM Magic Data files (.tmd) into 'proper' .md3 files that can be used by CMagic. (I might also make one that goes the other way as well.) There's just a few values in the .md3 file (I'm testing with the Austin track used in the GP4 Central Comp.) that don't exist in the .tmd file. So far, thesby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

I'm pretty sure that the tooltip for SH says something like 'Steering Help is required for switched input' which I take to mean as 'It's on full if your steering is a button'.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Awesome, thanks for that, I'll have a look at it later today.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

Hi guys, I've assembled a track in 3ds Max - cobbled it together from various default tracks - and want to, naturally, be able to drive it. So far, the only way I've been able to get it into GP4 Builder is to export the entire track as one piece - I've joined all the track sectors together as one mesh - but I'm not sure where to go from here. I've had look througby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Good round everyone! I actually did better than I expected to, which is always nice; Getting used to the fuel load and no TC - I'd been doing no TC races to practice - wasn't so bad, but the lower than usual Steering Help made things...........annoying. And I'm very disappointed in Tom; Had he won, I'd have been out of the penalties for Abu Double Oh well......by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

In Russian, Сочи is 'Sochi'. Also, Co4N is four atoms of Cobalt to one atom of Nitrogen. (If I remember my year 12 physics correctly.)by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Javi! .002! I can deal with with losing by .100, or maybe .050..........but not .002! Awesome lap mateby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
If you don't want to use a Torrent client, I recommend zbigz.com That site allows you to upload the really small .torrent file and it does all the caching - getting all the pieces from other people - for you, and then allows you to download the complete file like you would any other .zipby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
I like the sound of this, sounds like it could be quite a good bit of fun. I've always enjoyed the purely tactical aspect of F1, so something like this would be wonderful. What language were you going to build it in if I can ask? (And if you actually know yet.) Best of luck.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
I just uploaded a lap where I think I might have cut too much out of the Turn-11 hairpin; It looked a bit close from the cockpit but, when checking the replay - from behind the car - I couldn't properly see if I'd gone all 4 wheels over at once. If anyone can tell me one way or the other, that'd be great. Cheers, Doug.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
OK, not an over-abundance of slow corners so the no TC shouldn't kick me in the teeth too hard.......I hope! Best of luck all! @Tom; After the replay kerfuffle of last round that - we think - was caused by using or not using the .ini file, is there a specific way you want us to go about using this track?by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
@brasspanels Thanks mate, and check the previous page; Flying and Stefano discussed the replay problem, and Stefano worked it out. @Supermonty Thanks mate @Javi Thanks mate, just replied to your message.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

Monty gave me quite a scare when I saw he'd gotten into the 35s, but I was able to - somehow! - find a chunk of time in the middle sector that I hadn't gotten before. stefaby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Thanks Tom, good drive everyone, and I'll see you Stateside..........where I'll be in the performance penalty group...........damn.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Even when I try to do a race with out Traction Control, I always have to use it off of the start. (I'm pretty sure the AI use it as well.) I just hold it in neutral - actually hold it when using Auto-gears - with about 1/4 or less throttle and, when the lights go out, chuck into first, slam the throttle on full and let the TC and Launch Control take over; Even on Ace difficulty with deby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Just to clarify for the OP; Throttle/Brake goes Up/Down in the steering menu, Gear Up selects, Steering Left/Right makes adjustments (Fuel level, tyres) While graphically the same, there is a difference between Hard and Soft tyres (unless the GP4 Forever mod does things differently; I don't know if such things are editable with mods). Hards will last longer than Softs - I find them toby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Whoah, my bad; When checking them last night, somehow or other I missed Monty's! Can confirm same problem as Flying. flying Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Actually Dougs is odd too as it always starts in > the garage which is something > I had not seen before too I think that's down to where I save my lap. Ah that's better; managed to throw a couple of laps together with Monty's setup. I also checked the replay's and I'm happy to say that I've got no problem. @Flying: Though I didn't try it with my most recent runs, with my earlier ones I alternated between T-cam and cockpit, and they averaged out about the same. I too have been using GPxTrack, as always. No renaming of the .dat, and I use the low-res .wad I haven't tried looking at the replays yet, but will later. Also, Tom, no big deal, but the link from the leaderboard to the forums doesn't work for me. @Supermonty: My hat goes off to you mate, being able to drive with that setup! I too just see it as the best driver of the round having won. But, if someone wants to think otherwise, we can look at it as simple probabilities. There are 10 drivers that competed in Japan. 3 are non-keyboarders. That means 7 are keyboarders. 7/10 = 70% 70% percent chance of a keyboarder winning. We could run that event 10 times and, theoretically, a keyboarder would win 7by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
