Even with CAD data they managed to make some mistakes on the car...by Hades - Other Games
I'm really interested to see how you did it fongu. Anyway I just did a 5 min job and you can see on screenshots what's the result. Please remember its a very quick job and just to demonstrate idea, it should be much more refined when I do it on final product. I learnt 2 more things while working on this. First is that it is not hard to make those bodylines and its not too much time cby Hades - Grand Prix 4
I think it can work on all cars even on 2010 cars. Its just more time consuming on newer cars. @fongu I think tonight I'll try to make them on FW26, to see how it looks like. If my idea works then it shouldn't take more then 1 hour to make them on whole car. I can show you how I do them if it all goes wellby Hades - Grand Prix 4
Nope still nothing, all I see is some detached vertices but not full 3d bodylines.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
I don't see it on shape, and template has painted bodylines.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
Can you send me a link for one of those cars. I'm interested to see how it looks likeby Hades - Grand Prix 4
Yeah of course but its not so simple as it sounds. Its not so easy to make them look good and I also have to see how it will look after smoothing in gp4. Finally I have to see how many more polys will be needed for 3d bodylines and bolts.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
@vx110 Those models are from a game?by Hades - Grand Prix 4
Ok, its a deal. Do you also do mapping? I have no problems with individual liveries but I do not feel motivated to make specific GP shapes. Maybe only Monza because its a unique one.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
Yeah, its a bit more work for me but less for painters. Hopefully my method of making everything 3d will work great in gp4 :P Anyway I'll open my workthread in a few days as I plan to make more cars from other seasons. I'll also need some time to figure how everything works as I didn't do cars for gp4 before or better to say I didn't import any car in gp4 before.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
@madotter Sure, I have no problems with that You can also do Williams if you want Btw I'm working on some new stuff for my cars, so painters will only have to paint livery and put logos. Bodylines, bolts and shadows are no longer needed.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
Nice to see that you're interested in making your Ferrari even better I'm currently at work so I couldn't make detailed analysis but I hope this help a bit. These are for Silverstone, but most stuff is the same for other GP's. 1. Missing exhaust 2. There are no slits on your version It seems your diffuser is smaller than real one, and also your rear wing is not cby Hades - Grand Prix 4
I'm not familiar with this car, but the shape looks very smooth and has many details. Very good jobby Hades - Grand Prix 4
Very nice car mpad, but there are also many small details that are missing. If you want I can show you what needs to be doneby Hades - Grand Prix 4
I found some pics of my unfinished F2002. Pics are almost 2 years old. If there is interest in this car I can finish itby Hades - Grand Prix 4
Just had a look at 2002 cars and if you decide to work on scratch made cars book me up for Ferrari, Williams and Arrowsby Hades - Grand Prix 4
Luckily 2002 cars are not too difficult to shapeby Hades - Grand Prix 4
I was working on F2002 some time ago, its far from finished but I can make it if its needed. Also I can make few other shapes but only if someone else joins.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
I can help with shaping if you want scratch made cars. There were some nice cars back in 2002 .by Hades - Grand Prix 4
One more question. All cars are converted or there are some scratch made? Sorry for asking but its the first time I see 2002 mod in developmentby Hades - Grand Prix 4
Just detach those vertices at the back of each plane, nothing else. If it still doesn't work and you properly detached than I guess you have to recalculate normals in zmodeler.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
What exactly did you detach in 3ds max? And btw sometimes even if you do everything right in max you can also expect broken vertices when you convert it. Unfortunately that due to the .3ds formatby Hades - Grand Prix 4
No, the same smoothing group because the game only supports one. Sorry if I don't explain very clear but this tutorial will help youby Hades - Grand Prix 4
senna9194 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > so,you mean creating a separated object for those > polys? When you're smoothing objects in max you can't just use 1 smoothing group and get nice normals. Since games use just 1 smoothing group then you have to use option "detach to element". So basically when you have edges that are separatby Hades - Grand Prix 4
Probably there is a big angle between polys and you're using just 1 smoothing group and that's why you get defect normals. So solution should be to detach those polys.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
@Turbo Uh I have to fix that too, thanks @senna Approx. 30 min for my last render. That's on 64bit system, on 32 the same scene took me around 45-50 min.by Hades - Grand Prix 4
New render, sorry I forgot to assign some materialsby Hades - Grand Prix 4
